Holly was taken aback by the news.
Asher glanced at Holly, but Stella waved it off. "Speak. What kind of move?"
Holly wasn't an outsider; there was no need to hide anything from her.
Asher nodded, his expression turning grave. "Vivienne Sinclair contacted Silas Vane."
Stella arched an eyebrow. "Meaning?"
"She and the Sinclair elders have agreed to drop the pleasantries and deal with you directly."
The phrase 'drop the pleasantries' made Stella pause for a split second.
An instant later, a mocking smirk curled her lips. "So, they're planning to rob me in broad daylight?"
"Their logic is that since you're still legally a Sinclair wife, whatever you have naturally belongs to the Sinclair family."
They wanted to strike while she still held the title, making it easier to seize her assets.
Stella's smirk deepened. "Naturally belongs to them, does it?"
Good. Very good.
It seemed they felt the fires she had started yesterday weren't blazing high enough, and the chaos wasn't quite chaotic enough.
Holly listened, her heart pounding. "The Sinclairs have lost their minds."
Resorting to armed robbery! They weren't even pretending anymore.
Sebastian's right-hand man had just called to say he was returning tomorrow night.
If they dared to pull a stunt like that on Stella right now...
By tomorrow, the city's cemeteries would run out of plots.
"It's good that they're losing their minds," Stella remarked. "I'd be disappointed if they didn't get desperate."
"But what about you..." Holly looked at Stella with deep concern.
After all, Sebastian wasn't back yet.
Stella turned her gaze to Asher. "Do you think Asher is just here for decoration?!"
"Oh. Right..."
Holly remembered now. Asher was right here.
Before Stella's grandfather passed away, he hadn't just given her Asher.
