The One I Should've Married (Stella and Sebastian) novel Chapter 7

The moment the car sped away from Westside Heights, Stella's phone rang.

She glanced at the screen and saw it was the landline from Sinclair Manor.

She answered it. "Speak."

"Why aren't you back yet? I specifically told you before you left that Mrs. Chen and Mrs. Liu are coming over this afternoon. They absolutely adore the desserts you bake. Do you have any idea what time it is?"

Vivienne's harsh, demanding voice echoed through the speaker.

She completely failed to notice the icy venom dripping from Stella's single word.

Listening to the screeching complaints, Stella glanced through the rearview mirror at a bruised and battered Julian.

Seeing her look at him, Julian glared back like a defeated predator, his eyes full of useless aggression.

Stella's lips curled into a cold smirk. "I'm on my way."

"Well, hurry up! They're almost here, and you haven't prepared a single thing. You're constantly embarrassing me!"

Vivienne, entirely oblivious to the dangerous shift in Stella's tone, snapped a few more complaints before hanging up abruptly.

Catching Stella's dark smile, Julian's heart hammered in his chest.

He scrambled for his phone to text his mother, desperately trying to cancel the guests' visit.

Something was horribly wrong with Stella.

But before he could even type a single letter, Ivy called him.

Julian answered immediately. "Ivy."

"Julian, it hurts so much!" Ivy's agonizing wail came through the speaker, and it didn't sound fake.

Julian's heart seized. "What's wrong?"

"It hurts! It hurts so much—"

"Where does it hurt?"

"My back... my kidneys hurt."

Hearing that the pain was near her kidneys, panic gripped Julian's throat.

Her body was already fragile, desperately awaiting a transplant.

After enduring Stella's brutal assault today, she must have suffered severe internal damage.

"Don't panic, I'm heading back right now!"

Julian tried frantically to soothe Ivy over the phone.

He then roared at Stella behind the wheel. "Turn this car around! Go back to Westside Heights!"

Stella shot him a lethal glare through the rearview mirror.

Julian yelled, "You injured her! I swear to God, Stella, if anything happens to her today, I will literally kill you!"

"Beaten into a pathetic pulp, and you still have the nerve to run your mouth?"

Julian was rendered speechless.

Stella slammed her foot on the gas pedal.

The sudden acceleration threw Julian violently off balance, sending his phone clattering onto the floorboards.

He bent down to grab it, but Stella suddenly slammed the brakes, throwing him brutally into the back of her seat.

Instinctively putting his hands up to brace himself, his fractured wrist took the brunt of the impact.

Julian roared in absolute agony. "You crazy psycho, stop the car!"

This vile woman was doing it on purpose!
