The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge novel Chapter 835

Now that her son was finally making a name for himself, she was eager for him to dump Sallie and find a new, obedient wife whom she could control.

"Mom, stop causing trouble! Someone, please, get my mother out of here!" James was at his wit's end. Dozens of security guards rushed in and escorted the still-protesting Mercer matriarch away. The mistress and her baby were not so lucky; they were taken away by the police.

James, drenched in sweat, was left alone in the vast hall with his wife and father-in-law. The remaining employees had discreetly slipped away, knowing it was unwise to be privy to such secrets.

"Dad, that woman was a fraud. Please, don't believe her. So many people are targeting me these days. I truly only love Sallie," James pleaded, his voice cracking.

But Mrs. Mercer simply threw a folder at his face. A DNA report fluttered to the floor. "Is this a setup too, James? I have tolerated you for a very long time. Do you have any idea what you've done today? You humiliated me in front of the entire company, and you let that woman and her child barge in. What do you take me for?"

Sallie's father looked on with profound disappointment. "James, all these years, I've treated you like my own son, waiting for you to deliver a result I could be proud of. Today, I finally got it, only for you to pull a stunt like this."

His voice was heavy with sorrow. Mrs. Mercer sat stiffly on a velvet sofa, her face a cold mask. James scrambled toward his wife in a panic. "Sallie, I'm telling you the truth! I have no idea who is trying to frame me. Someone must be trying to ruin our marriage for their own gain!"

Mrs. Mercer let out a cold laugh. "Who could possibly frame you? Your mother? Did you not hear what she just said? That I can't give you a son, that she'll let you divorce me, that I should accept another woman's child? Didn't those words come from her own mouth? James, do you really think I'm so desperate that I have to stay with you?"

Terrified, James began to stammer. "Honey, listen to me, that's not it. My mother must have been duped by that woman!"

The matriarch was stunned. "What are you talking about, 'conspire with outsiders'? That's my daughter-in-law and my grandson!"

"You want a daughter-in-law, right? Fine. Take that woman with you. Take the child back to the countryside and raise him yourself. Don't worry, I'll give you two thousand dollars a month for living expenses. You can do whatever you want, but stay out of my life."

The Mercer matriarch stared in disbelief. "Are you even human? I'm your mother! I was doing it for you, for the good of the Mercer family! What use is that barren woman to you?"

James cut her off. "What use is she? She gives me an endless supply of money and more respect than I could ever earn on my own. What does the woman you brought here do? She eats my food, lives in my house, and tries to ruin me. Since she gave you a grandson, you can take them both. I won't interfere. But from now on, you stay in the countryside and you don't come looking for me. Stay as far away as you possibly can."
