Gwyneth heard her and screamed desperately. "Hawthorne, don't be a fool! You can't do this! You don't have to save me. I'll never forgive you! Even if you do this, I won't forgive you, do you hear me?"
Patti had already thrown a coil of rope with all her might, and it landed at Hawthorne's feet. If Gwyneth weren't a Langford, she would have slapped her without hesitation. But she was the heiress of the Langford family of Starfall City, and even Patti had her limits.
Hawthorne, however, was a different story. With Gwyneth as leverage, she had him completely under her thumb. She could do whatever she wanted, certain he wouldn't dare resist. Otherwise, she'd trigger the explosives, and they'd all go to hell together.
"Well, Mr. Everhart? You're a man of your word, so tie yourself up."
Lying on the hood of the car, Gwyneth watched Hawthorne, tears finally streaming down her face. "Go away, just go away!"
Hawthorne simply looked at Patti Yale. "If I tie myself up and walk into the sea, you'll let her go?"
Patti's shoulders shook with laughter. "Go on, my lovestruck hero. Do you really think you have a choice? If you choose to die, maybe she'll have a chance to live."
Today, either Gwyneth or Hawthorne had to die. She didn't care anymore. After this was done, a helicopter would be here to fly her to Sweden. With the money James had given her, she could live very well abroad.
So what if they were the Langford family of Starfall City? Once she was overseas, could they still catch her? She had already hired dozens of bodyguards to protect her. After arriving in Sweden, she could apply for citizenship and become a Swedish national. Then no one could touch her.
Without hesitation, Hawthorne tied the rope securely around himself in front of Patti.
At this point, Gwyneth couldn't hold back anymore. She didn't want her children's father to be dead before they were even born. If it came to that, she was willing to divorce Hawthorne to appease Patti Yale.
Everyone heard Gwyneth's hysterical cries, carried by the sea breeze to Hawthorne's ears. Patti heard it and laughed so hard she bent over.
"Gwyneth, don't say such foolish things. It's impossible," Hawthorne said. He would rather die than be with a woman like this. Gwyneth looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears.
"She's just another woman, so what's the difference? You and Patti had feelings for each other once, didn't you? Hawthorne, your life is more important than anything. She just wants to be with you; she doesn't really want to kill you."
Gwyneth's plea was sincere, but Patti laughed until tears streamed from her eyes. "Are you two treating me like a three-year-old? If you want to put on a show, keep going. Gwyneth, could you really give up Hawthorne? Let me tell you, at this point, even if you were willing to give him up, I wouldn't want him. And Hawthorne, let me tell you another truth. I never loved you. I was just using you all along. Because out of all the men I've ever met, you were the stupidest. You believed everything I said and were willing to help me. A man like you, who's never been in a real relationship and lacks any romantic nerve—why would I ever be interested?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge
I can’t even read this sickening story anymore, this couple didn’t even get a chance to be really happy before their marriage was torn apart. It had been dragged out long enough....
If Gwyn gets an abortion I am going to stop reading this story, I believe in pro-choice but come on. Why can't he just tell her what he is really doing with Patti instead of letting her think she is a mistress....
Why no updates? It’s been so long! Pls update....
