“Shh, it’s okay, don’t cry,” Hawthorne murmured, holding her close. “I’m right here, I’m fine. Don’t worry, I wasn't going to die. When I saw you in danger, how could I not go after you? If I hadn’t, you might have been the one who didn't make it. I love you. I’ve always loved you. You have no idea what you mean to me. If you were gone, I wouldn't want to live either.”
It was the first time Hawthorne had spoken his feelings so simply, so profoundly. Gwyneth only cried harder in his arms, her sobs raw and cathartic. All the resentment she had harbored toward him washed away. The moment she saw him walk into the ocean without hesitation, it was as if all the air had been knocked out of her, making it hard to breathe. She couldn’t bear the thought of a world where he didn’t exist. Even if they were to separate, even if they were to divorce, at least he would be alive.
“Gwyn,” Hawthorne whispered, his voice thick with emotion, “can you forgive me now?”
That was his greatest fear. It wasn’t dying in the sea; it was failing to save her and their children. It was losing her forever.
But Gwyneth was too emotionally and physically drained to answer. She had cried herself into unconsciousness in his arms.
Leonie, who had been shamelessly eavesdropping outside the door, nearly fainted herself. Her aunt wasn't in the hospital because of the pregnancy—they had survived a life-or-death ordeal. She stood frozen in the hallway, her legs turning to jelly, almost collapsing to the floor.
“What about Patti Yale? Did they catch her?” That was Gwyneth’s first question when she came to, her voice raspy. She was terrified Patti would come after them again.
Hawthorne gently stroked her hair. “Don’t worry,” he soothed. “She’s never getting out again.”
*Never getting out? Does that mean she’s in custody?* Gwyneth couldn’t help but think of Violet, and a shiver ran through her. Hawthorne immediately pulled her closer. “Are you cold? Should I have them turn up the heat?”
The memory of the frigid ocean water still sent a chill down his own spine. He prayed that Gwyneth wouldn't suffer any lasting health problems from the ordeal. The fact that she and the babies had survived was nothing short of a miracle.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge
I can’t even read this sickening story anymore, this couple didn’t even get a chance to be really happy before their marriage was torn apart. It had been dragged out long enough....
If Gwyn gets an abortion I am going to stop reading this story, I believe in pro-choice but come on. Why can't he just tell her what he is really doing with Patti instead of letting her think she is a mistress....
Why no updates? It’s been so long! Pls update....
