The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge novel Chapter 854

Hans caught the hesitation in her eyes.

“Relax, I have no intention of kidnapping or extorting you. Mr. Everhart would never resort to something so trivial. Frankly, the Mercer family’s net worth isn’t substantial enough to rival us anyway. Now that he and Gwyn are allied, their combined power is immense. He really doesn’t care about your assets. You have my word.”

Everything Hans said was ruthlessly logical and entirely factual.

Sallie’s lips twitched, her face flashing from flushed red to stark pale. She couldn’t argue.

“Who exactly are you taking me to see? Is this some kind of ambush?” she demanded.

Hans simply pulled open the passenger door of his SUV.

“You’ll see when we get there. I guarantee you won’t regret it. You can keep your phone on, share your live location with your security, whatever you need to feel safe. I don’t do dirty work.”

His calm assurances managed to chip away at her paranoia.

She tried repeatedly to fish for clues during the ride, desperate to know who was waiting for her, but Hans remained tight-lipped.

He only promised that she wouldn’t be disappointed, and that she would actually end up thanking him.

Truth be told, Sallie trusted Hawthorne’s character far more than the average billionaire.

Compared to James and the other sleazy tycoons she rubbed shoulders with, Hawthorne was practically a saint.

She also reasoned that if Hawthorne wanted to destroy anyone, it would be James.

And since James was already sitting in a police interrogation room, Hawthorne had no real reason to inflict physical harm on her.

Still, out of an abundance of caution, she made a final demand.

“I’ll go with you, but my personal detail is coming too.”

Hans gave an indifferent shrug.

She immediately selected her most heavily built bodyguards to flank her, and they followed Hans’s vehicle in their own detail.

The drive was entirely unremarkable until they pulled up to an ultra-exclusive gated community.

Her confusion deepened, but she was finally convinced he wasn’t going to murder her.

If this were a hit, they would be in the middle of nowhere, not driving through a neighborhood of multimillion-dollar estates.

The sweeping driveways and manicured lawns looked incredibly familiar. In fact, she owned several properties in this very community.
