She made a point not to walk in his direction, but Connor had already spotted her. He revved the engine and aggressively pulled the car up right next to her.
"Get in."
Connor's tone was sharp. Leonie could tell he was barely keeping his temper in check, but she had absolutely no desire to go anywhere with him.
Plus, her relationship with Dorian was strictly platonic. If she got in the car, Connor would just start running his mouth again, and she was entirely sick of hearing it.
"Get in the car. I'm taking you somewhere."
Leonie ignored him and kept walking.
Frustrated, Connor slammed the car into park, vaulted over the door, and stormed up to her, grabbing her arm in a tight grip.
"Leonie, how much longer are you going to throw this tantrum?"
Leonie couldn't understand why his first instinct was to blame her. Why didn't men ever try to apologize and make things right instead of instantly playing the victim?
Who was throwing a tantrum? He was the one acting completely unhinged—cruel, dismissive, and refusing to even acknowledge their relationship in public.
Just moments ago, he had been soaking up the attention of those women asking for his number. He hadn't looked like he was turning them away. He was exactly the kind of guy who thrived on being the center of attention.
She hated that he craved constant validation. She wanted a relationship like Hawthorne and Gwyneth's, where they only had eyes for each other.
"I'm not throwing a tantrum, so don't flatter yourself. We aren't together, so stop acting like there's some ambiguous tension between us."
That remark finally set Connor off.
"How am I making things ambiguous? Who was the one acting like the boss's girl in front of all my friends? You chase after me, and the second you have me, you toss me aside?"
That one sentence nearly made Leonie's blood boil. When had she ever chased after him? Back when he was hospitalized, he had genuinely cared for her.
At the time, she hadn't even had real feelings for him. It was only after spending so much time together that she had started to fall for him.
Besides, despite his sharp tongue, he checked a lot of her boxes. He was handsome, undeniably cocky, and carried that effortless bad-boy energy she had always found attractive.
During her time with Dorian, she had realized he felt more like family, whereas Connor was the one who ignited a spark. Sometimes she wondered if there was something wrong with her, constantly ignoring safe guys and falling for a chaotic mess like Connor, who barely gave her the time of day.
"Connor, if your brain is full of water, please empty it. I never chased you. You're delusional."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge
I can’t even read this sickening story anymore, this couple didn’t even get a chance to be really happy before their marriage was torn apart. It had been dragged out long enough....
If Gwyn gets an abortion I am going to stop reading this story, I believe in pro-choice but come on. Why can't he just tell her what he is really doing with Patti instead of letting her think she is a mistress....
Why no updates? It’s been so long! Pls update....
