Gwyneth didn't even know where to begin. Technically, this entire tragedy had spiraled out of Leonie's actions.
But she refused to speak ill of Leonie, who was already drowning in her own unimaginable grief. Gwyneth gave Victoria the condensed version.
"One of Leonie's friends crossed the wrong people. The woman responsible for this has already fled the country. Mom, if you can help us find her and drag her back to face justice, we need your resources."
When it came to her daughter's requests, Victoria was utterly uncompromising. She demanded the details of everything that had happened over the last week.
Gwyneth relayed what little she knew about the woman named Felicia, pulling entirely from Leonie's fragmented confessions.
Realizing Gwyneth didn't have the actionable intel she needed, Victoria shifted gears.
"Fine, we can map this out later. Right now, your priority is your own health. Where is Hawthorne? My people are telling me he left the city."
Victoria had no idea Hawthorne had gone into The High Sierras to find a cure for McNeil. Gwyneth debated keeping it a secret, but she knew Victoria would find out eventually. She had to tell the truth.
"Hawthorne heard rumors about a Folk Healer deep in the mountains who might be able to cure Dad's coma. He took a convoy into The Great Basin Wilderness. Once they find the healer, he'll come back."
Victoria's expression darkened instantly. "That is absurd! How could he leave his pregnant wife behind? You're due in a matter of months!"
"You two haven't even had your formal wedding yet, and he abandons you to go off-grid just to chase a ghost story for your father? What on earth was he thinking? He couldn't wait until after you delivered, or maybe another year?"
It wasn't that Victoria didn't want McNeil to wake up. If he miraculously recovered, the Langford family would be thrilled, and her three children would finally have their father back.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge
I can’t even read this sickening story anymore, this couple didn’t even get a chance to be really happy before their marriage was torn apart. It had been dragged out long enough....
If Gwyn gets an abortion I am going to stop reading this story, I believe in pro-choice but come on. Why can't he just tell her what he is really doing with Patti instead of letting her think she is a mistress....
Why no updates? It’s been so long! Pls update....
