The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge novel Chapter 991

Alastair scoffed. "Don't be fooled by how Layne treats you right now. If he knew you've been lying and betraying him this whole time, do you really think he'd still want you?"

A shudder ripped through Maeve. A suffocating wave of despair crashed over her, threatening to pull her under.

She dreaded the thought of Layne discovering her true motives. No self-respecting man would tolerate that level of deception.

Alastair had her exactly where he wanted her, pinning down her weakest point and ensuring she could never escape his control.

"I understand," she murmured.

Maeve stepped out of the room like a ghost. Downstairs, Delilah was leisurely sipping her coffee on the sofa. She had just gotten off the phone with Quinton, testing the waters to see how he would react to Maeve's return. Quinton had assured her that even with Maeve back in the picture, Delilah was the only woman he wanted to marry.

Delilah was thrilled. The man was securely wrapped around her finger, and now she just had to deal with Maeve.

"Maeve, you mentioned earlier that you wanted to see Quinn. I already set up a meeting for you. Do you want to go?"

Maeve stared at her, highly suspicious. She didn't buy Delilah's sudden kindness for a second.

"What are you plotting?"

Delilah offered a sweet, innocent smile. "What could I possibly plot? You said you wanted to see him to clear the air. I try to help you out, and you question my motives. Wow, it really doesn't pay to be the good guy. This is a one-time offer. Don't say I never did anything for you. So, what will it be?"

At that moment, Alastair's voice drifted down from the second floor.

"Dee, don't meddle in things that don't concern you."
