100 Chapter 100 A Deep Accusatory Voice
Blanche’s POV 1
Patty’s teasing sent heat rushing to my cheeks.
“Cut it out, Patty,” I said, jabbing her elbow while keeping my expression serious.
Patty knew I wasn’t exactly the adventurous type, but she pressed on anyway. “Just think about it. You can’t stay tied to one man your
whole life.
You’ve been with Zain. Why not explore other options? Life’s going to get pretty boring otherwise, don’t you think?
Besides, he’s the one who cheated first.”
I bit my lip and managed a strained smile.
“Let’s drop this topic.”
Patty backed off and let it go.
We kept wandering around, sampling Oakwood’s street food specialties.
When the clock hit nearly ten, Patty finally admitted she was exhausted and needed to get back for some rest.
I drove Patty to her hotel, and just before she stepped out, something seemed to click in her mind. She frantically dug through her purse and produced a small package. “Oh! This is for you. I remembered your birthday’s coming up.”
My eyes stung as I took the gift.
“Thanks, Patty,” I whispered.
Since marrying Zain, I’d severed ties with my family. Each year, Amber would secretly reach out with birthday wishes and send me a
substantial sum.
But beyond Amber, nobody else bothered to remember my birthday.
It had been ages since I’d actually marked the occasion.
If Patty hadn’t brought it up, I would’ve completely spaced that my twenty–seventh was just days away.
Patty must have noticed how much this affected me because she pulled me into a hug. “You need to be kinder to yourself. Stop wasting energy on people who don’t deserve it.”
I leaned into her shoulder and hummed softly in agreement,
Before we said goodbye, I suddenly remembered something.”
Oh, Demetrius’s in Oakwood too. Aren’t you curious to see him?”
Patty’s expression dimmed, and she shook her head firmly. “Nope. I still remember how he rejected me when I told him how I felt.”
During our college internship in fifth year, Patty had laid her heart on the line with Demetrius.
Few people knew about it, but I was one of them.
Demetrius had declined, claiming he wasn’t in the right headspace for romance then.
After that, Patty never contacted Demetrius again.
“Fair enough, I won’t push,” I said.
Patty climbed out and lingered by the door. ”
Go on, head home. Be careful driving, and shoot me a text when you’re safe.”
By the time I pulled into Blissfield Villa, it was past eleven.
I assumed Carry would be sleeping, so I crept upstairs as quietly as possible.
But when I pushed open the bedroom door, the bed was vacant. Carry was missing.
Panic shot through me. I rushed to Zain’s room, but Carry wasn’t there either.
Heidi came hurrying upstairs when she heard the commotion.
Seeing my frantic state, she quickly explained, “Mrs.
Jacob, Miss Carry left with Mr. Grey tonight. Mr. Jacob arranged it.”
Relief washed over me, though I was still confused. “Where did Desmond take Carry?”
Heidi hesitated before responding, “Since Mr. Jacob requested it, I didn’t pry. But from what Mr. Grey mentioned, it sounded like they
were going to meet Mr.
Jacob.”
‘Wait, I realized, ‘they’re not going to see Zain at all. They’re going to see Joanna.‘
Worried about Carry, I decided, “I’ll call Zain.”
Back in my room, I dialed Zain.
He answered almost instantly.
“Did Carry make it there?” I asked directly.
Zain’s voice came through clearly. “Yeah, she just arrived.”
In the background, I could hear Carry’s and Joanna’s voices chattering.
I couldn’t catch their words, but Carry was giggling, her tone playful and flirtatious.
I didn’t want to hear anymore, so I said, ”
Okay, I’m hanging up.”
But just as I was about to disconnect. Zain suddenly spoke up. “Blanche, there’s something I need to discuss with you?
The way he said my name felt strangely intimate, yet somehow distant.
I hesitated briefly, then replied coolly. Handle whatever it is yourself. You don’t need my input.”
Before Zain could respond, I ended the call first.
1 sank onto the couch, gripping my phone, and stared into nothing for what felt like forever.
Suddenly, my screen brightened with another incoming call.
1 expected it to be Zain calling back, but surprisingly, it was Demetrius.
“Demetrius.” I answered, trying to keep my voice steady.
Demetrius seemed to pick up on my disappointment, but he didn’t mention it. Instead, he said, “Tomorrow’s the weekend. Want to hit
the library together?”
I accepted immediately. “Absolutely, what time?”
“How about ten? Demetrius suggested.
“Perfect” I agreed.
I was cramming for graduate school entrance exams, and time was running short. But with Carry’s recent illness, I’d had to pause my
study sessions.
Now that Carry was elsewhere, I figured I could finally get some serious studying accomplished.
The next morning. I woke up early, got ready, and left Blissfield Villa.
When I reached the library, Demetrius was already there waiting
Even though we were supposed to study together, Demetrius basically devoted his entire morning to helping me. He clarified my

I gathered my materials and walked to the parking lot to locate my car. Just as I was about to turn the key, a deep, accusatory voice emerged from the passenger seat “Why did you return what I gave you?”
I nearly jumped out of my skin. When I turned. I found Vincent staring at me with bitter resentment.
“How… how did you get in my car?” I stammered, my voice shaking with alarm.
Vincent ignored my question. He leaned toward me, seized my wrist, and effortlessly pulled me close to him.
We were so near now that the air between us crackled with dangerous, intimate energy, our scents mixing in the cramped space.
My lashes fluttered nervously. As Vincent gazed into my eyes, the way my lashes kept trembling seemed to scramble his thoughts each
time.
When he spoke again, his voice was rough and loaded with emotion. “Tell me. Why did you return what I gave you?”
Vincent looked ready to explode. But the moment his gaze met mine, his fury seemed to dissolve, no matter how hard he fought to
maintain it. Without realizing it, he relaxed his hold on my wrist.
He noticed my furrowed brow and seemed to recognize he’d caused me pain.
I tried to pull back, but even though Vincent wasn’t gripping me that firmly, I still couldn’t break free.
I looked at him desperately. “Vincent, you don’t owe me anything. It’s inappropriate for you to give me something so valuable. We’re not
that close. I really can’t take them.”
Vincent was famous in our social circle for being a playboy and big spender.
He was constantly lavishing money on women, throwing cash around carelessly.
Even if most of it was just gossip, I’d personally witnessed him go crazy bidding on a bracelet at an auction, spending money like it meant
nothing.
My words seemed to infuriate Vincent. He tightened his grip on my hand and moved even closer.
Before I knew it, his nose grazed mine.
We were so close our breath mingled, heavy with tension.
I tried to retreat, but Vincent pressed his palm against the back of my head, keeping me locked in place.
At that moment, I couldn’t budge at all.
His body moved closer, and he felt like he was radiating heat.
Our lips were barely apart.
I panicked, my voice shaking as I begged, ”
Vincent, don’t do this. I’m Zain‘ wife”
