99 Chapter 99 Wrap Them All Up
99 Chapter 99 Wrap Them All Up
Blanche’s POV
The moment we entered the kids‘ section, I went wild, snatching up outfit after outfit for Carry.
Patty shook her head. “You spoil that girl rotten. Honestly, you should focus some of that attention on yourself.”
I managed a weak smile. “Just this once. God knows when I’ll get another shot at shopping for her.”
Patty knew better than to argue with me, so she stuck close and kept me company.
After I’d filled several massive bags with clothes, it was time to face the register.
The sales clerk tallied everything up. “That comes to thirty thousand dollars.”
The number hit me like a slap, but I kept my mouth shut.
This was a luxury brand’s kids‘ section. Beautiful stuff. Ridiculously expensive stuff.
During my years with Carry, I’d been a regular here. Sometimes I’d drop a few thousand, other times tens of thousands.
The price never bothered me.
Zain had given me a bank card and made sure to load it with money every month, all for Carry’s care.
At first, I used to obsess over the balance, but Zain was ridiculously generous. He’d dump three hundred thousand at a time–way more
than I could possibly spend.
Eventually, I stopped checking altogether.
Patty’s jaw dropped at the price, but then I saw her reasoning it out. ‘Makes sense. They’re Zain’s family. Of course they use the best of
everything. And Zain has money to burn.
I dug through my purse, found my bank card, and slid it across to the clerk. “PIN is 990824,”
The clerk swiped it, but the machine let out an angry beep and flashed red. “Payment declined.”
The message froze me in place.
The clerk knew me well enough to trust I had the money, so when the card failed, she looked just as shocked as I felt.
Patty stared blankly. “What the hell’s happening?”
The clerk ran the card again, then delivered the verdict. “Ms. Callum, your card’s been frozen.”
I frowned, my mind spinning “How is that possible?”
She double–checked and nodded with certainty. “Ms. Callum, the card is definitely frozen.”
I stood there like an idiot for what felt like forever before finally speaking. “Could you hold these for me? I need to step out and make a
call.”

I grabbed Patty’s arm and dragged her out of the kids‘ section.
Once we hit the stairwell, I didn’t hesitate to dial Zain.
I expected him to ignore me, but surprisingly, he picked up right away.
“What’s wrong? Is Carry sick again?” His voice carried that familiar edge of worry.
But I wasn’t about to play games. I cut straight to the point. “Your bank card is frozen.”
Silence stretched between us. Then I could practically hear him remembering whatever he’d told Desmond to do.
He’d frozen the card on purpose.
He didn’t bother explaining. After that loaded pause, he asked, “What are you trying to buy?”
I was ready to demand answers about the frozen card, but his tone told me everything I needed to know–he was behind this.
I swallowed my questions.
Then Zain cut in. “Let me transfer you the money.”
Rage flared in my chest, but I was too damn tired to fight anymore. “Don’t bother.”
I hung up without giving him a chance to respond.
Patty had caught enough of the conversation to piece things together, even without hearing both sides.
She glared at me. “That bastard! After everything, you’re still not divorcing him?”
My voice came out rough and quiet. “Soon.”
Patty was livid. “That piece of shit! He blows millions on fireworks for his mistress’s birthday, and that’s just the beginning. He throws
away tens of millions on gifts and surprises for her.
“But when it comes to buying your daughter clothes worth a few thousand, you have to grovel? I can’t fucking believe this.”
The disappointment and hurt were definitely there, but after all these years, I’d gone numb to it. It barely registered anymore.
“Patty, I’ll just skip buying them. He’s not worth your anger.”
Patty was practically vibrating with fury. “I swear I want to strangle that scumbag.”
I squeezed her hand. “Let it go. He’s not worth it.”
This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
If I let every petty cruelty eat at me, I’d have drowned in bitterness years ago.
Patty’s heart was breaking for me. “You threw away your future for that asshole, and look what it’s done to you. You were valedictorian
when we graduated, but now you’re the one who’s struggling the most. After all these years, you’re still just a regular doctor
Even Patty, who’d been mediocre in school, was now a chief OB doctor, while I, the former star student, was…

I didn’t want to go down that road. “I’ll catch up on my studies.”
Patty believed I could get my life back on track, but I could see her thinking, ‘Who’s going to give Blanche back those five years she lost
to this marriage?‘
Finally, Patty and I walked back to the kids‘ section together. My pile of clothes was still sitting at the register, waiting.
The sales clerk spotted me and hurried over.
I gave her an apologetic look. “Sorry, about those items from earlier…”
Before I could tell her I didn’t want them anymore, a deep, commanding voice called out from behind me. “Wrap them all up.”
I spun around to find Vincent standing there in a long black trench coat. Black was his signature–it clung to him like it was made for his
body alone. He had that dangerous edge, but his sharp features refined away any hint of roughness.
He was staring right at me, wearing that cocky, almost wicked grin.
I frowned. “No, I don’t need them anymore.”
Vincent strode over, pulled a black bank card from his coat, and held it out to the clerk. He arched an eyebrow. “When a woman says she
doesn’t want something, she actually does. Just pack them all up. Put it on my card.”
I always remembered Quinton’s warning about keeping my distance from Vincent.
When I saw he was seriously about to pay, panic shot through me and I whispered urgently to the clerk, “I told you I don’t want them.
Even if he pays, I won’t accept them.”
I grabbed Patty’s hand and marched out of the kids‘ section with quick, determined steps.
I figured if Vincent saw how serious I was, maybe he’d give up on this ridiculous gesture.
By the time we made it outside the mall, my heart was still hammering.
Patty nudged me. “Blanche, that gorgeous guy seemed really into you.”
I shook my head. “You’re imagining things. He’s unpredictable and doesn’t give a damn about much. He’s got plenty of people he’s
interested in. I’m married. Why would he care about me?”
Patty was confident. “Trust me, I can read people. If he wasn’t into you, why would he pay for your stuff?”
I couldn’t really argue with that logic. “It could be anyone, but definitely not him.”
The Aarays were Oakwood royalty, and Vincent was the kind of man who had everything: power, charm, and that untouchable presence.
Even if he didn’t marry some socialite, he’d still end up with someone from a family as powerful as his own.
But Patty just brushed off my concerns and kept pushing. “Seriously, just give it a shot. He’s so damn fine. Are you really going to just
stand there and admire from afar?”
