Chapter 105 Another Dinner Appointment.
Blanche’s POV 1
I gathered my courage and stepped out of Carry’s room.
Walking by Zain’s door, I noticed it stood slightly ajar.
Without thinking, I glanced inside. Zain stood with his back toward me, already dressed, while Joanna faced him, adjusting his tie. He’d
even lowered his head to make it easier for her to reach.
I quickly looked away after that brief glimpse.
Making my way downstairs, a hollow feeling settled in my chest. I could handle a tie just as well, but Zain had never asked me to. He
usually kept his distance from everyone, yet with Joanna, all his barriers seemed to disappear.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs, Heidi spotted me looking distracted. “Mrs. Jacob?”
I met her eyes, managing a smile. “Heidi, I’m heading to work.”
Heidi spoke up quickly. “Won’t you eat breakfast first, Mrs. Jacob?”
“No time for that,” I answered. I’d already wasted too much time waiting around for Carry.
I’d gotten up early and hurried over, only to discover Carry barely seemed to need me there.
The thought stung.
Pulling into the hospital parking garage, I heard someone call out, “Blanche.”
I turned to find Demetrius approaching in casual wear, his striking looks and impressive height making him impossible to miss. Doctors
this attractive were practically unheard of in our field.
“Demetrius,” I replied with a wave.
We headed toward the elevators together. While we waited, Demetrius asked, “Free tonight? Want to get dinner?”
Since Carry clearly didn’t need me around, I nodded. “Sure, I’m available.”
Demetrius’s face lit up. “Perfect. I’ll come by after work to get you.”
I started to tell him I could meet him there, but he continued, “Someone else will be joining us too.”
“Who?” I asked, intrigued.
Demetrius just grinned mysteriously. “You’ll find out tonight.”
My mood had been dragging, but Demetrius’s playful energy made me laugh. “Come on, Demetrius, why the mystery?”
He simply smiled without giving anything away.

The elevator doors opened, and we stepped inside. At the ground floor, more people crowded in, forcing Demetrius to position himself
in front of me protectively.
Rush hour had the elevator packed so tight I was practically pressed against Demetrius’s chest.
As we rose, I could hear Demetrius’s heart hammering so hard it seemed ready to break free from his ribs. Looking up, I saw his jaw
locked tight, his face flushed.
When Demetrius glanced down, our eyes locked. For that instant, I felt his pulse racing wildly.
The elevator stopped at my floor just then. I spoke quietly, “Demetrius, this is me.”
“Right, of course.” Demetrius quickly stepped aside to let me out.
In the evening, Demetrius showed up at my department.
I was still at my desk, updating patient charts, when a family member called for help with their loved one.
Demetrius grabbed a lab coat immediately. “I’ll handle the patient. You get those records finished.”
With Demetrius’s help, I only needed a few extra minutes to complete everything.
By the time we arrived at Demetrius’s chosen restaurant, it was already getting late. Since our other guest hadn’t shown up yet,
Demetrius suggested we wait in the lobby.
Watching how carefully Demetrius was handling this, I figured his mystery guest must be someone important.
After a short while, someone entered from outside. Demetrius stood up, and I did the same. Looking toward the entrance, I saw Aide
Reese walking in.
Aiden carried a briefcase and wore formal attire. When the server held the curtain for him, he nodded graciously, smiled, and said,
“Thank you.” Every movement radiated unmistakable sophistication.
But once Aiden entered, he didn’t even look our way. Instead, he followed the server directly toward a private dining room.
As he passed us, Demetrius began to say, “Professor…” but before he could finish, Aiden was already walking away with the server.
He completely ignored us, leaving both Demetrius and me bewildered.
We watched Aiden’s path, and when the private room door opened, we glimpsed inside, Zain, Drew, and Joanna were seated there.
Joanna had opened the door. Seeing Aiden, she bowed her head respectfully. “Professor Reese.”
Aiden gave a quick nod and entered the room.
After the private room door shut, Demetrius led me back to our table. He looked at me apologetically. “Sorry, I had no clue they’d invited
Professor Reese as well.”
Against that kind of influence, even Aiden didn’t have much choice,
I smiled, brightening my expression. “It’s fine. Let’s just enjoy our meal.”

Demetrius could tell I was putting on a brave face and tried to comfort me. “Professor Reese mentions you all the time. He says he hasn’t
been this eager to mentor a student in years.”
“He’s really excited for when you finish your master’s and apply for his doctoral program.”
I nodded. “I’ll give it everything I have, Demetrius.”
“I know you will,” Demetrius replied.
I smiled again but stayed quiet.
Demetrius got it–my husband was dining with another woman, and they’d also stolen away the guest who was supposed to join us.
Zain’s POV
Inside the private room, Drew and I rose to greet Aiden as he entered. “Professor Reese.”
Aiden commanded respect from many admirers. Even Drew and I had to show him proper deference, especially since we needed his help
tonight.
Aiden glanced briefly at Drew and me before focusing on Joanna.
Under his intense stare, Joanna grew flustered. “Professor Reese.”
Aiden looked at her sharply. “Sit down. Why are you gawking at me?”
Joanna held his gaze. “You should sit as well, Professor Reese.”
Aiden didn’t reply and simply took his seat.
I gestured for the server to begin bringing out the food.
But Aiden addressed me directly. “Just so you know, I’m pressed for time–not long at most. Whatever you want, make it quick. I have
another dinner appointment, and I won’t keep people waiting.”
Though Aiden smiled, he clearly wasn’t showing Drew and me any deference.
I remained composed, but Drew’s smile had vanished.
Joanna sat next to me, unable to even look at Aiden.
I recognized Joanna’s discomfort around Aiden and got straight to business. “Professor Reese, I’ll be direct. Joanna has some questions
she’d like to ask you.”
Aiden turned toward Joanna. “Go ahead.”
Even with me present, Aiden’s tone remained cold.
Joanna raised her eyes, her voice shaking as she faced Aiden. “Professor Reese, I’ve studied countless research papers, but I still can’t
identify a worthwhile or practical topic. Could you please offer some guidance?”
