110 Chapter 110 My Daughter Lied Again
Blanche’s POV 1
I’d always known Vincent was a shameless flirt, but this level of audacity caught me completely off guard. Words escaped me for a
moment.
The memory of Demetrius’s dirty clothes crammed in my bag made me scramble for a topic change. “Vincent, I need to do some
washing. Time for you to go.”
His grin vanished the second I mentioned laundry. “What exactly needs washing?”
I shot him a sharp look. “Not your concern.”
I moved toward the sofa to grab Demetrius’s clothes.
The moment I leaned down, Vincent materialized in front of me, yanking the garments from my grip. “Your hands weren’t made for
scrubbing some bastard’s dirty clothes.”
He hurled the clothes to the floor, his expression turning ice–cold. Genuine anger flickered across his features.
I glared at him. “You-”
He cut me off before I could finish, his voice dripping with possessiveness. “Blanche, from this moment forward, Demetrius keeps his
damn hands off your waist. You’re mine.”
I stared at Vincent, completely unable to tell if he meant it or if this was just another game. The uncertainty left me reeling. After a beat, 1
said, “Vincent, I’ve been married. I have a daughter.”
Maybe I was reading too much into things, but I couldn’t let him harbor any illusions about me. Even if the thought never crossed his
mind, I had to set the record straight.
Vincent met my gaze without flinching and shrugged. “And? So what?”
I looked away, unable to decipher him. The man was a complete mystery. “I’m not some innocent girl, so quit messing with me
Vincent had bedded countless women. I seriously doubted someone like me would catch his interest.
I bent to retrieve Demetrius’s clothes, heading for the bathroom, but as I passed Vincent, his hand shot out and grabbed my arm.
“Blanche, every single thing I’ve told you–none of it was a joke, Not one word.”
He dropped the pet names and flirty tone this time, Instead, he spoke my name like he was sealing a pact.
My resolve wavered for an instant, my thoughts scattering. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to believe him. Whether he was sincere or not
didn’t matter anyway.
Even if he meant every word, we’d never end up together.
And if he was just playing games, it wouldn’t touch me either.

After a pause, I finally said, “Vincent, if you don’t leave right now, I’m seriously going to scream for help”
Vincent released my arm. “I’ll take off once you’re asleep.”
I whirled around, irritation bleeding into my voice. “How the hell am I supposed to sleep with you lurking around?”
Vincent looked genuinely surprised for a second, then gave a grudging nod. “Fine. I’m going”
I didn’t answer, just watched him in silence.
Vincent’s smile crept back as he reached out and gently ruffled my hair. “Get some rest. I’m leaving now.”
I murmured a quiet “okay,” offering nothing more.
Vincent caught my composed demeanor and couldn’t resist one last jab. “Next time I enter your room, I hope it’ll be through the front
door.”
With that, he snatched Demetrius’s dirty clothes from my hands, strode to the window, and spotted a rope dangling outside. Without
missing a beat, he grabbed it and swung himself through the opening.
In seconds, the rope pulled him up and he disappeared from sight.
Vincent was gone, taking Demetrius’s laundry with him as a parting gift.
I walked to the window, slammed it shut, and yanked the curtains closed. Sleep would be impossible tonight.
The next day, Tuesday, I’d just wrapped up my rounds and returned to my office when my phone buzzed. Zain.
“What’s up?” I answered.
Zain said, “Grandpa’s been missing Carry. He wants to see her.”
I replied casually, “Just bring Carry to visit him. No need to update me.”
Zain paused, then said, “What Grandpa really wants is for you to bring Carry yourself.”
I hesitated before responding flatly, “Understood.”
Zain added, “After you finish work, swing by Blissfield Villa to get Carry.”
“Sure,” I said.
That evening, after work, I drove straight to Blissfield Villa. When I arrived, Carry was packed and waiting, sporting a small backpack and clutching two tiny bags,
I didn’t bother asking about the contents.
Zain loaded Carry’s bags into my car and said, “When you’re at Jacob Manor, mind your mom. Your great–grandfather’s getting on in years, so spend time with him and keep him entertained a bit longer.”
Carry nodded sweetly. “Okay, Dad.”
After Zain closed the car door, I rolled down my window and asked, “You’re not coming?”

“I’ve got business to handle tonight. I’ll see Grandpa another time, Zain said
I didn’t push. I rolled up the window and prepared to drive off.
But then Zain called out again, “Oh, and if Grandpa asks, just tell him I’m out discussing business with Drew and the others?
I nodded. “Got it.”
The moment my car pulled away, Zain slipped into his own vehicle.
During the entire drive to Jacob Manor, neither Carry nor I bothered with conversation. We both stayed silent.
Traffic was brutal, and we crawled along at a snail’s pace. I kept my cool, refusing to let frustration take over.
At a red light, I happened to glance over and spotted Zain’s car just ahead and to the right. He wasn’t alone–Joanna sat in the passenger
seat.
The two of them were deep in conversation, laughing and clearly having a blast. Joanna kept giggling, occasionally hiding her mouth
with her hand, playing coy.
Zain was grinning too, but it was an expression I’d never witnessed on his face before.
Watching Zain and Joanna together left me momentarily stunned. I didn’t snap back to reality even when the light turned green. Horns
started blaring behind me.
Carry spoke up, “Mom, what are you doing? The light’s already green.”
I finally snapped out of it and drove forward.
When we reached Jacob Manor, Oswald gave me a warm welcome and asked about my well–being. After some brief small talk, I headed
to the kitchen to whip up a few dishes for him.
In the living room, Carry hung out with Oswald, chatting and keeping him company.
After dinner, I relaxed in the living room, making conversation with Oswald, while Carry played with her blocks nearby.
Suddenly, Carry cried out in distress, “Mom, it hurts! My stomach hurts!”
I rushed over to check on her. “What’s wrong?”
Carry was in tears, her little face twisted in pain. “Mom, I want to go back to Blissfield Villa. My tummy hurts.”
I figured it was probably Carry’s lymph node issue acting up again, so I quickly agreed, “Alright, I’ll take you back.”
The medication was at Blissfield Villa, and I’d completely forgotten about it when we left. With Carry complaining about stomach pain,
returning seemed like the logical choice.
Seeing how much agony Carry appeared to be in, Oswald didn’t dare insist they stay and let me take her back.
During the drive back, I kept my foot heavy on the gas, worried that Carry might start wailing in pain again at any second.
But when we pulled up to Blissfield Villa, Carry seemed perfectly fine. She shouldered her backpack and hopped out of the car, saying,

“Mom, I’ll go inside by myself. Heidi will get me the medicine. You can head home now”
I couldn’t find the words to express my bewilderment.
Carry clearly wasn’t in any real pain, but I couldn’t fathom why she was faking illness.
Watching Carry skip happily into Blissfield Villa, my curiosity hit its breaking point. I got out of the car and quietly tailed her inside, I had to discover why my daughter had lied to me again.
