111 Chapter 111 A Deeper Kind Of Betrayal

Blanche’s POV 1

After I watched Carry slip into Blissfield Villa, I clutched my backpack straps tighter and rushed toward the main entrance. While i moved, Carry’s bright voice rang out, Miss Joanna, I’m back!

That joyful sound twisted something sharp in my chest. I held back until Carry disappeared into the hall, then crept up to the doorway where I could watch everything unfold inside.

Carry passed her backpack to Heidi before darting straight to Joanna, who’d just emerged from the kitchen. She wrapped her arms around Joanna’s leg and gazed up with sparkling eyes. Miss Joanna, where’s Lillian?

Lillian Vins was Joanna’s mother, recently moved to Blissfield Villa.

That’s exactly why Carry had returned here. She refused to stay at Jacob Manor.

It wasn’t Oswald she couldn’t standit was me.

Joanna knelt in front of Carry, fingers threading through her hair with tender care. She’s in the kitchen, sweetheart.

Carry brightened, ready to bolt toward the kitchen, when Lillian stepped into view.

Carry, darling, you’re home. Come to me,Lillian called, dropping to her knees with open arms. Her face glowed with pure, maternal

warmth.

Carry flew into Lillian’s embrace, peppering her cheek with enthusiastic kisses.

Lillian, you finally made it to Oakwood! I’ve been missing you like crazy since last weekend. I keep dreaming about your cooking.Carry gushed, practically vibrating with excitement.

The Vins family owned a business, but Lillian remained a simple housewife who’d lived a quiet life. Her clothing was plain and unpretentious.

None of that mattered to Carry. She actually seemed more attached to Lillian than she’d ever been to me.

Lillian’s weathered hands cupped Carry’s face as she spoke in her raspy voice, Whatever you’re craving, baby, I’ll make it for you.

Carry attacked Lillian with more kisses, giggling breathlessly. You’re amazing, Lillian. The absolute best.

Zain appeared at the top of the stairs. The moment he spotted Carry wrapped around Lillian, kissing her face, his expression darkened. Carry, get over here,” he commanded, his tone sharp.

Carry’s face fell as she reluctantly shuffled toward him.

I watched as Joanna seemed to catch Zain’s stern look, perhaps assuming he disapproved of Lillian getting so cozy with Carry. But Zain quickly cleared up what appeared to be her concern.

When Carry reached him, Zain crouched down and spoke gently. Lillian just had surgery and she’s still healing. You need to be extra gentle with her, understand? We don’t want to accidentally cause her any pain.”

Carry bobbed her head earnestly. I understand, Dad

Joanna’s shoulders relaxed with visible relief.

After addressing Carry, Zain filled a glass with water and approached Lillian. Here, drink this. While you’re staying here at Blissfield Villa.

just focus on recovering. Don’t worry about cookingHeidi’s here to handle everything. If you need anything at all, just ask her?

Lillian accepted the glass, gratitude written across her features. Zain, thank you so much?

Zain’s smile was genuine. Don’t mention it, Lillian. No need for thanks.”

Carry latched onto Zain’s arm, beaming up at Lillian. Just take it easy and enjoy yourself, Lillian. After school every day, we can take

walks together, okay?

Tears gathered in Lillian’s eyes. You’re such a sweet girl.”

Joanna moved to Lillian’s side, offering her arm for support. She looked up at Zain with concern. Zain, are you sure this isn’t too much

trouble?

Zain shook his head, chuckling softly. Not even close. Just concentrate on your studies. I’ll make sure Heidi takes excellent care of Lillian

during her recovery.

Joanna’s face lit up with gratitude. Thank you, Zain.

Zain playfully tapped her nose with his finger. Why so formal with me?

Joanna ducked her head, her cheeks flushing deep red.

From my position outside, I absorbed every detail of the scene playing out before me.

My husband and daughter adored Joanna so completely, they’d extended that same warmth to her mother. But they’d never shown that

kind of consideration for my own family.

Throughout our entire marriage, Zain had never once visited the Callum homenot a single time.

I seriously doubted he could even pick my family members out of a lineup.

And Carryshe absolutely shattered my heart. Irene had spent her entire afternoon preparing a special meal, only to have Carry tear it

apart with criticism. Yet she couldn’t stop raving about Lillian’s simple cooking for days afterward.

The truth hit me like a slapCarry had faked that stomachache just to get back here and see Lillian. And Zain’s story about meeting Drew was nothing but a cover.

Maybe Carry already knew that Zain and Joanna were planning to pick up Lillian.

After I left Blissfield Villa, I drove myself back to Callum Mansion alone. That night, I stared at the ceiling again, my thoughts too chaotic for sleep.

The next morning, Camila’s knock woke me up. Aunt Blanche, another package arrived for you.

I groaned and dragged myself out of bed. ComingTo keep my family from worrying. I dusted some powder over my face to hide the exhaustion before heading downstairs.

Isabela had already brought the package inside, and Camila was kneeling beside it, poking at it with curiosity. What’s inside?she asked

as I walked over.

I tore open the package, and before I could identify the contents, the thing inside started expanding, growing larger and larger. It turned out to be an enormous stuffed animalso massive it dwarfed anyone standing next to it.

Camila looked confused. Aunt Blanche, don’t you already have a stuffed animal? Why order another one?

I figured this had to be another gift from Vincent, so I just shrugged. Maybe I accidentally clicked the wrong item when ordering

Camila nodded, then grabbed her school bag. I’m heading to school. See you later, Aunt Blanche. The driver was already waiting by the

door.

I stared at the gigantic stuffed animal that could tower over any grown man. I was completely at a lossI had absolutely no idea what to

do with this thing.

After a moment’s hesitation, I bolted out of Callum Mansion, positioned myself at the entrance, and scanned the area, hoping to catch

sight of the delivery person.

I didn’t care who’d sent itI was going to return this thing to wherever it came from. But the delivery guy was nowhere to be found.

Defeated, I turned to go back inside when I collided with a solid chest. Before I could process what happened, a playful voice drawled.

Looking for me?

I recognized that voice immediatelydefinitely Vincent.

Startled, I stepped backward. Why do you keep stalking me?

Vincent stood there with his arms folded, making no move to come closer. He looked down at me, that trademark smirk spreading

across his face. Because I can’t get you out of my headnot for one second.”

I glared at him. Vincent, stop sending stuff to my house.”

Vincent stood there in his black trench coat, hands buried in his pockets, looking like every bad boy fantasy come to life. He flashed me

that dangerous smile. So where should I send it instead? Your office?

My eyebrows drew together in frustration. I don’t want any of your gifts.”

Vincent moved closer, leaning down until his warm breath tickled my face. Then give me a kiss, and I’ll stop sending you presents,he said with a wicked grin,
