136 Chapter 136 His Choice Was Made
Blanche’s POV 1
When everyone showed up, Joanna rushed straight to Carry while Drew just stood there watching me get attacked, doing absolutely
nothing.
Nicholas jumped in instead. He grabbed a stick and started beating the dog, trying to make it release me. The animal wouldn’t budge, its
teeth still locked on my arm.
Nicholas kept striking it with the stick, yelling and trying to frighten it away.
Drew ignored Nicholas completely and went back to Carry, then noticed blood trickling down her leg from multiple bite marks.
His face darkened with worry. “Carry’s bleeding badly. She needs a hospital right now.”
Joanna scooped Carry up and rushed toward the exit.
Drew started following but stopped when he realized Zain wasn’t with them. He looked back and saw Zain kicking at the dog, trying to
free me.
Even after several kicks, the dog just whined but kept its grip locked tight.
Drew could see Zain attempting to help me, but Carry was clearly in worse shape.
“Zain, move it!” Drew yelled. “Carry needs medical attention now. Leave Blanche – Nicholas’s handling it.”
Zain paused when he heard Drew shouting, then turned to Nicholas. “I’m taking Carry to get treated. Can you watch Blanche?”
Nicholas nodded without hesitation. “Just go. I’ve got this.”
Zain looked down at me – I was covering my head while the dog still had my right arm clamped in its jaws, blood flowing freely.
Both emergencies were serious, but Carry was just a child who couldn’t cope like an adult.
After wavering briefly, Zain decided to get Carry to the hospital first for treatment and shots.
As they left with Carry, Amara came running after hearing the commotion.
She looked confused seeing them rushing off with Carry, but then spotted me being mauled while Nicholas tried desperately to drive the
dog away.
Nicholas wasn’t aggressive by nature and got queasy around blood. Even with the dog savaging me, he held back from really hurting it.
Amara was completely different. The second she saw me being attacked, she charged over and delivered a vicious kick to the dog’s head.
When it still wouldn’t let go, she didn’t stop – Amara landed several more brutal kicks.
Whether from exhaustion or pain, the dog finally released me, collapsed on the ground with its tail down, mouth open, panting heavily.
Amara immediately pulled me to my feet while Nicholas rushed to help.

Nicholas looked at me with concern. “You alright?”
I was still dazed, barely feeling the pain in my arm. I shook my head numbly. “I’m okay”
Seeing my hand dripping blood and my pale face, Nicholas said quickly, “Let me get you to a hospital.”
Before I could respond, Amara shot him a fierce glare. “Get lost. I have a car.”
Amara knew Nicholas was with Zain’s group, and she figured they’d all abandoned me. That made her furious.
Nicholas stood there speechless, not knowing how to respond.
Amara supported me, her voice full of sympathy. “They’re all scumbags.”
My legs felt weak every step was unsteady and shaky.
Amara kept ranting, cursing Zain and Joanna, but I barely registered her words.
I felt drained – not from pain, but because I was getting lightheaded from seeing blood.
–
Ironic, really. I was a doctor – a surgeon even – but I’d get dizzy at the sight of blood.
This wasn’t something I’d always had; it developed after I gave birth.
Still, I became a doctor anyway, believing I could overcome this mental barrier.
Most of the time I managed fine. But tonight, those old fears came flooding back.
Amara was helping me toward the exit when my legs finally gave out and I started falling forward.
“Blanche!” Amara screamed in panic.
I braced for impact, but it never came.
Through my haze, I sensed someone approaching.
The scent was familiar – a subtle blend of tobacco and cologne.
Someone swept me into their arms, and I could feel burning eyes fixed on me – so intense they seemed ready to sear right through me.
My body trembled as someone carried me, each step making me sway gently.
At the same time, I heard a voice heavy with complex emotions – anger, guilt, pain, and an aching tenderness.
The voice spoke, “Why do you always end up so broken whenever you’re around him? I was only gone briefly and you’re already hurt this badly. If you’d chosen to marry me, I would never let anything happen to you-”
When I finally opened my eyes, the sharp smell of disinfectant burned my nostrils. My arm ached, making me wince slightly.
As my head cleared, I began remembering what happened before I passed out.
Amara sat beside the bed, and when she saw me wake up, relief flooded her face. “Blanche, you’re awake?”
My voice came out rough and quiet. “Yeah.”

Amara grabbed my hand, her voice breaking. “Do you know how terrified I was?”
I gently rubbed her hand with my thumb. “I’m fine.”
After crying for a moment, Amara finally said, “Vincent was the one who carried you here.”
I’d pretty much figured it was Vincent.
I still wasn’t sure if he was genuine or just performing, but that night, he was the only one who would’ve helped me.
I hesitated before asking, “Where did he go?”
Amara continued peeling an apple as she answered, “He brought you here, waited for the doctor’s diagnosis, then left. Some woman
picked him up.”
I simply nodded. “Alright.”
Amara handed me an apple slice. “Earlier I was telling you to avoid men like him, and next thing I know, he’s the one rescuing you.”
I just smiled and stayed quiet.
Amara’s mind jumped around constantly.
After discussing Vincent, she switched topics and started cursing Zain. “That bastard honestly doesn’t give a damn whether you live or
die. You’re getting torn apart and all he cares about is Carry’s wellbeing.”
I gave a weak, resigned smile. “That’s just who he is.”
Amara was furious enough to explode, but seeing how pale I looked, she forced herself to restrain her anger.
After I finished the apple, Amber and Quinton arrived at the hospital.
Following my fainting spell, Quinton had called, and once Amara explained what happened, they said they’d come over.
The shots were complete and the infection risk was gone, so I didn’t need to stay hospitalized. Amber said it was time to go home.
I was concerned about Amara, so I asked Quinton to drop her off first.
After Amara was safely home, our family returned to the Callum Mansion.
By the time we reached the Callum Mansion, it was already late into the night.
When I entered my bedroom, I noticed the sheets I’d left perfectly neat that morning were now rumpled.
I sat down, ran my hand across the sheets, and realized they were still warm.
