140 Chapter 140 Home Is Wherever I Am

Blanche’s POV 1

I watched as Vincent saw Dorian getting rowdy, so he quickly ducked down, slapped a hand over the kid’s mouth, and shushed him.

Dorian caught on immediately and nodded.

Vincent let go and ruffled Dorian’s hair. When I get my act together, I’ll take you to haunted houses. Not just oneevery single one out

there.

Dorian shot him a skeptical look. Mr. Aarav, you’re all talk.”

Vincent pressed his palms together, giving them a little shake. Please, trust me.”

Dorian’s big eyes rolled around as he thought it over. After a beat, he shrugged. Fine, whatever.”

Then Dorian blurted out, But Mr. Aarav, Camila’s scary as hell. I want to be friends with her, but I can’t even work up the nerve to say hi.”

I could see Vincent understood that Dorian was intimidated by Camila. I knew that beneath Camila’s tough exterior, she was actually a

sweet, wellbehaved kid.

Vincent looked distant for a moment, as if lost in thought about his past. There was something in his expression that suggested regret,

perhaps about choices he’d made before I married Zain. I sensed he was thinking that if things had been different, none of this current

drama would exist. Back then, I had been head over heels for Zain, and Vincent had stepped aside. From the look on his face, I could tell

he wished he’d fought harder, consequences be damned.

Vincent touched Dorian’s cheek, his voice turning serious. Listen up, kid. If you want something, go after it. Don’t spend your life

regretting what you didn’t try.

I could tell Vincent was talking to Dorian, but the words seemed meant for himself too.

Dorian nodded. Got it.”

Summoning his courage, Dorian jogged over to where I stood with Camila. Miss Callum?

I stopped walking and turned to face him.

What’s up, Dorian?I asked softly.

Dorian looked up at me with hopeful eyes. Miss Callum, I want to have dinner with you tonight.

Before I could respond, Camila cut in. Dorian, my mom just called. She wants me and Aunt Blanche to come home for dinner.

Dorian blinked in confusion. Huh?

Camila’s patience snapped at his bewildered expression. What’s with the huh? We’re not eating with you today. Maybe next time, okay? There’ll be plenty of opportunities.

Faced with Camila’s fierce attitude, Dorian instinctively looked back at Vincent for backup.

Vincent wasn’t about to waste this opportunity. He caught Dorian’s eye and gave him an encouraging nod, pushing him to try again with

  1. me.

Dorian turned back to me, his voice pleading. Miss Callum, can’t you stay?

Camila lost her cool and snapped at Dorian. Dorian, you’re being so stubborn! Like I already told you, we’re going home for dinner.”

Dorian immediately backed down. Oh, okay then.

I noticed Camila was being a bit harsh and gently intervened. Camila, be nice to Dorian.

Camila just nodded and stepped back beside me.

I crouched down in front of Dorian and gave his ear a gentle touch. Dorian, let’s have dinner together another time. My treat.”

Dorian nodded. Okay.

I stood up and glanced over at Vincent, who was hovering nearby. Mr. Aarav, we’re heading home now. See you later.”

Vincent didn’t look angry anymore, but when I spoke to him, he seemed frozen. Like he wanted to respond but couldn’t find his voice.

I could tell he wasn’t going to answer, so I didn’t wait around. I took Camila’s hand and headed for the exit.

After Blanche and Camila left, Vincent smacked himself in frustration. He looked down at Dorian and muttered, Man, you’re useless.

Dorian fired back, Well, why didn’t you say anything? Miss Callum wouldn’t have bitten your head off.”

Vincent shot back, And Camila wouldn’t have eaten you alive either.”

Dorian pouted, unable to argue back, and grumbled, Hmph, I’m telling my dad you were mean to me.”

I hailed a cab back to the Callum Mansion.

When I reached the gate, Zain’s car was parked outside, which caught me off guard.

Dinner was still some time away, and Amber and Quinton weren’t back yet.

Roger and Irene were out too.

So when I walked in holding Camila’s hand, I found Zain lounging on the couch with an untouched cup of coffee sitting on the table in

front of him.

If the rest of my family were home, Zain probably wouldn’t have made it past the front door.

Zain looked up from his phone when I entered. You’re back already?

I guided Camila into the living room. Camila, go upstairs and play for a bit, okay? I need to talk to your uncle.”

Camila clearly didn’t want to leave, but I insisted, so she reluctantly went along with it.

Once Camila disappeared upstairs, I walked over to Zain, my irritation obvious. Zain, what the hell are you doing here?

My tone was sharp, and the annoyance was written all over my face.

Zain set his phone down, acting casual. Grandpa told me to come pick you up.

I turned my head away and replied coldly, Not happening. I’m not going back with you tonight.”

Zain stared at my profile, and for a moment, he seemed lost in thought.

After a pause, he finally cracked a slight smile. I found the marriage certificate.”

Those words hit me like a lightning bolt, sending my emotions into overdrive. I whipped around, excitement flooding through me.

Where is it?

Zain could see the joy in my eyes, but honestly, he looked anything but happy. The version of me who used to love him desperately

seemed to have vanished completely.

After a long silence, Zain finally said, Come back to Jacob Manor with me, and I’ll tell you.

His ultimatum made my blood boil, and my voice got louder. Zain, what the hell is your game?

Zain met my furious stare and repeated, Come back to Jacob Manor with me.

I took a deep breath and finally caved. Fine, I’ll go with you.”

With the marriage certificate, getting divorced would be so much easier.

Seeing my agreement, Zain stood up.

Just as we were about to leave, Camila came thundering down the stairs. Hey, jerk, where are you dragging Aunt Blanche off to now?

Camila marched right up to Zain and threw her arm out, blocking his path.

Zain looked down at Camila, crouched to her level, and reached out to pat her head.

But Camila smacked his hand away, furious. Don’t you dare touch me.

Zain pressed his lips together, quietly withdrew his hand, and said gently, I’m taking Blanche to Jacob Manor.

Camila immediately protested, No way! Aunt Blanche belongs herethis is her real home.”

Zain was an adult, and he knew better than to argue with a child.

But today, he couldn’t seem to hold back. With a faint smile, he looked at Camila and said seriously, Camila, Blanche is my wife. This isn’t

really her home. Her home is wherever I am. Do you understand?
