141 Chapter 141 Return To How Things Were
Blanche’s POV 1
Zain attempted to explain his logic, but Camila remained unconvinced. She gazed at him with fierce determination. “That’s wrong.
“Mom and Dad told me Aunt Blanche belongs to the Callum family, and whenever she wants to return, the Callum Mansion will always
welcome her. Her real home is right here, not with you.”
Zain’s expression darkened at her words. He studied Camila with conflicted eyes, momentarily speechless.
Camila was simply defending me because she truly cared, I realized. As her uncle, what grounds did he have to debate with a child?
When Zain remained silent, Camila pressed on stubbornly. “I won’t let you take Aunt Blanche away.”
I stood nearby, watching Camila fight for me, and felt my eyes begin to moisten.
Yet if Zain spoke the truth about knowing the marriage certificate’s location, I was prepared to make the journey.
Before Zain’s patience could wear thin, I lifted Camila and placed her gently in the living room’s center.
“Camila, we need to go back briefly, but I’ll return soon. Should I ask Isabela to prepare your favorite fish?” I said tenderly.
Tears rolled down Camila’s face as she gripped my clothing tightly, refusing to release me or speak.
My heart ached seeing Camila’s distress. I embraced her and whispered soothingly, “Camila, be sweet. I never break my word.”
Camila nestled against me, sniffled, and said, “Alright, but you must return quickly, or I’ll have Mom and Dad search for you.”
I stroked Camila’s hair, warmth spreading through my chest. “I promise.”
Camila then stretched up, planted a gentle kiss on my cheek, and whispered, “See you soon, Aunt Blanche.”
My eyes burned with tears as I bit my lip. “See you soon,” I whispered back.
As I prepared to leave, Zain returned inside.
He knelt before Camila and gently ruffled her hair. “Camila, would you like to visit our place sometime? Carry will be there too. You girls
could play together.
Camila backed away, glaring at Zain furiously, offering no agreement.
Witnessing Camila’s rejection, Zain said nothing more and simply smiled weakly.
As we exited the Callum Mansion, Zain opened the passenger door for me.
I glanced at the door and stated, “No, I’ll take the back seat.”
Zain immediately moved to block the rear door with his frame.
I scowled.

Zain stayed silent, standing firm, clearly insisting I sit in front.
Recognizing we were wasting time, I reluctantly slid into the passenger seat.
But as I settled in, Zain leaned inside, half his body entering the car. I tensed instantly.
Zain reached across to fasten my seatbelt, and as he withdrew, he noticed small bloodstains seeping through my white sleeve.
Zain paused, then moved to grasp my arm.
I flinched, pulling my hand away and eyeing him warily. “What are you doing?”
Zain hesitated, frowning at my reaction. “Your hand’s bleeding. Let me check it.”
I shot him an icy stare. “I don’t need your assistance.”
Zain crouched beside the car, reaching for my arm again, but I jerked away. “Zain, I said I don’t need it.”
My voice was sharp, clearly irritated.
Zain’s face remained half–shadowed in the shifting light, his gaze fixed on me with complex emotions.
After a lengthy silence, he finally asked, “Are you frightened of me? Or are you simply pushing me away?”
Zain looked at me, as if he couldn’t recall me ever acting this way before, as if I’d always welcomed his touch. But now, everything felt
different to him, I could tell.
I turned my face aside, my eyes cold and detached as I used his full name. “Zain, let’s return to how things were. You don’t need to worry
about me, and I won’t concern myself with you either.”
Zain neither agreed nor disagreed. In the dim lighting, his expression was unreadable. I couldn’t decipher his thoughts.
After several seconds, Zain spoke again. “Is it because you think I was too cold before? Is that why you’re punishing me now?”
I laughed softly, almost scornfully. “Does it matter at this point?”
Zain shook his head, his voice gentle. “Perhaps it does.”
I was growing tired of his endless talk.
“Are we going back or not? If not, I’m getting out.”
Zain studied me for a long moment before finally standing. Once he entered the car, he drove away.
Before reaching Jacob Manor, Zain pulled into a supermarket.
I had no clue what he intended, so I remained in the car.
Zain exited, opened my door, and asked, “Aren’t you coming in?”
I blinked, still puzzled. “What exactly are we purchasing?”
Zain replied, “Something for Grandpa.”

Hearing this, I finally stepped out of the car.
We entered the supermarket together. I browsed the gift section while Zain disappeared from view.
After selecting a present, I searched the aisles for Zain.
I found him at a shelf, reaching for an item. When he approached, I saw it was a box of condoms.
Zain made no attempt to conceal it, holding it openly, completely unbothered that I’d seen him.
We were about to divorce, and we hadn’t been intimate in months. Clearly, those condoms were meant for Joanna.
I glanced at them briefly before looking away.
After placing everything at checkout, I heard Zain’s voice behind me, sounding puzzled. “Why didn’t you pick up anything you enjoy
eating?”
I didn’t turn around, simply saying flatly, “I don’t need anything”
Zain froze momentarily. He seemed to want to grab some treats for me, but to my surprise, he looked embarrassed, as if he had no idea
what I actually preferred.
When we arrived at Jacob Manor, Oswald hadn’t eaten dinner yet.
Seeing us arrive together, Oswald was thrilled and quickly instructed the staff to prepare additional dishes.
Once everything was set, Oswald smiled warmly and asked, “What brought you two home today?”
Usually, the children never visited without reason. And it was especially rare to see Zain and me appear together.
Zain placed our purchased gifts on the table and answered quietly, “Blanche wanted to visit you.”
When Oswald heard Zain’s words, his face brightened with joy. “That’s wonderful. You two finally understand, don’t you? You realize you
need to support each other to succeed.”
I stayed silent, just glancing at Zain.
He looked back at me, and for an instant, he actually smiled. But I showed no reaction.
Oswald noticed Zain smile at me and couldn’t contain his happiness.
He thought to himself, ‘Maybe Zain has finally realized his mistakes. He recognizes Blanche’s worth and wants to treasure her now.”
During dinner, before Oswald could speak, Zain was already serving me food.
1 frowned, unable to understand Zain’s motives. But with Oswald present, I remained quiet.
Seeing how harmoniously we interacted, Oswald finally felt relieved.
After dinner, Oswald kept insisting, “You two should spend the night. Tomorrow’s Sunday, so you can both accompany me on a walk.”
I stayed silent, but Zain responded first. “We’ll do as you wish, Grandpa.”
