246 Chapter 246 The Line Is Drawn

Blanche’s POV

1

Wrapped in Vincent’s arms, I soon drifted off to sleep.

Early in the morning, I woke up feeling hot and

sweaty.

I was drenched, and as I blinked myself awake, I was startled to find myself tangled up in Vincent’s arms.

Vincent had me in such a tight embrace that I could barely catch my breath. Geez, does he have to squeeze so hard?I thought.

Carefully, I nudged Vincent away before climbing down from the hospital bed.

Standing by the bed, I found myself remembering what Demetrius had told me.

He said he’d be back soon.

But so much time had passed, and he still hadn’t returned.

Thinking about it made me anxiousI wanted to go

outside and give Demetrius a call.

But just as I opened the door, I caught sight of Demetrius slumped on the bench by the entrance.

His eyes were bloodshot, shadows under them, with a rough layer of stubble along his jawhe looked like he’d aged overnight.

I came to a sudden stop, worry evident in my voice. Demetrius, did you stay here the whole night?

Demetrius looked at me, his eyes holding a trace of bitterness. He answered quietly, Yeah.”

Seeing how worn out Demetrius looked, I couldn’t help but worry that the surgery might’ve gone badly.

Did something go wrong with the operation?I asked gently.

Demetrius shook his head, his voice tired but certain. No, everything went fine.

I was still puzzled, so I asked, Are you hungry?

Demetrius nodded, Yeah.

I frowned a little and suggested, Want to go grab

some breakfast together?

Demetrius replied quietly, Yeah.

Noticing how Demetrius was barely speaking, I frowned and asked, Demetrius, are you okay? What’s wrong?

Demetrius lifted his face to me, his dark eyes hopeful and intense, searching my features for even the slightest hint of emotion. He didn’t seem willing to miss a single change in my expression.

He finally spoke, his voice low and vulnerable. If I passed outwould you hold me the way you held him?

I frowned, clearly confused. What do

you mean?

But before I could process it, Demetrius suddenly slumped right into my arms.

I barely managed to reach out in time, catching his head and steadying him before he hit the ground.

At the same moment, I cried out frantically, Doctor! Doctor! Someone help!

Doctors rushed in and quickly took Demetrius to the

emergency room.

After running a bunch of tests, the doctor finally turned to me, and I still looked worried. It’s really nothing serious, the doctor said with a reassuring smile. He just faintedpulled an allnighter and skipped breakfast, so his blood sugar tanked. Some rest and a good meal, and he’ll be fine.

I nodded, my voice gentle. Okay, I got it.

I stayed with Demetrius until he was settled in a room, then slipped out to get him some proper breakfast and fruit. When I returned. I found him trying to get out of bed, looking unsteady on his feet.

Seeing Demetrius out of bed, I hurried over, genuine worry in my voice. Demetrius, you shouldn’t be up yet! Are you feeling okay?

Before I could even put down the breakfast and fruit, Demetrius swept me up into his arms, holding me tight.

His voice was husky and desperate. I know Vincent means more to you than I do, but I just want a small

place in your heart. Just a little spot, that’s all I’m asking for.

I stiffened, my heart aching with guilt, but I still said softly, Demetrius, you’re such a wonderful person. You’re amazing and kindI’m sure you’ll meet someone who truly loves you with all their heart.”

Demetrius didn’t say anything. He gently let go of me and glanced down at the breakfast box in my hands, putting on a cheerful front as he said, Did you bring me something to eat?

I could tell he was avoiding the topic on purpose, but I didn’t press him.

I simply replied, Yes.

Demetrius flashed me a smile, Let me try someI’m actually starving.

He reached for the breakfast bag in my hands as he spoke.

Demetrius’s gentle voice floated out: Hey Blanche, want to have a taste of this porridge?

I sounded soft and a little shy. You go ahead,

Demetrius. I’m really not hungry.”

Demetrius coaxed me, Come on, just try a little? Let me feed you, yeah?

I was about to refuse again, but before I could get a word out, the infusion room door was kicked open with a sharp bang.

At the sound, I turned to see Vincent standing there, backlit so his features were hard to make out.

Even without a clear look at his face, I could sense his anger practically burning in the air. He must have woken up and found me gone.

In the next moment, Vincent marched right toward me, his whole posture aggressive and brimming with fury.

The closer Vincent came, the clearer his face became -and the more furious he looked, anger practically radiating off him in waves.

Before I could even get a word out, Vincent barked at me, voice like a whip: Blanche, you heartless woman! Did you really think you could juggle multiple guys all

at the same time?

I frowned, a trace of frustration in my voice. That’s not true, Vincent! Don’t accuse me of something I

didn’t do.

Vincent glared at me, then shot a look down at my hand. Then tell mewhat do you call this? Why are you holding his hand, huh?

Only then did I look down at my own hand, following where Vincent was staring.

And just as I feared, Demetrius was indeed holding my hand firmly.

The instant Demetrius realized everyone was

watching, he squeezed my hand even tighter, as if making it clear he had no intention of letting go.

At that moment, Demetrius looked up at Vincent, his voice steady and determined. You’re not the only one who’s into herI am too.

Vincent’s face twisted with anger as he snapped, You don’t get to like her!

Demetrius didn’t back down. Locking eyes with

Vincent, he challenged, Says who?

Vincent shot back, For one thing, I’ve known her way longer than youand she even said she was going to marry-

But before he could finish, the nurse pushed open the

door to the infusion room.

The nurse hurried over to Vincent, sounding urgent. Mr. Aarav, your mother’s awakeshe wants to see you

now.
