268 Chapter 268 Posing For Wedding Photos

Blanche’s POVO

When I finally put all the pieces together and glanced up, I spotted Lucia making her way toward Vincent.

Before she left, Lucia turned back to me. Blanche, I’m taking off now. Once you get everything sorted here, don’t forget to swing by the hospital and see me.”

I nodded quickly. Yeah, I’ll be there.

Lucia flashed me a tired smile. Good. I’m heading out. Oh, and you better show up for New Year’s Day.

I froze. The refusal was right there on my tongue, but I couldn’t get the words out.

Lucia had bent over backward to help medragging herself out in the middle of the night, even changing clothes just for my sake.

Most people wouldn’t have bothered showing up at all, especially this late.

I didn’t refuse, but I didn’t agree either.

Lucia didn’t push. She just smiled, waved at the other two, and headed out of Amara’s apartment.

Vincent trailed after Lucia, but as they walked toward the elevator, he shot me a look over his shoulderthat lazy grin spreading across his face as he cocked an eyebrow in that trademark cocky way and threw me a playful wink.

I watched Vincent’s arrogant, borderline rude smile- he was completely shameless, but damn if he didn’t look annoyingly cute doing it. Why do I think he’s adorable?I wondered, feeling a bit helpless.

Even after I looked away, that roguish, smug grin of his kept flashing through my mind.

The second Vincent and Lucia disappeared, Amara emerged from the bedroom.

When the bedroom door swung open, we all

automatically turned to look.

Amara had changed into fresh clothes and combed her

hair back.

For the first time, her eyes weren’t clouded with terror

or anxiety.

Amara walked up to Noelle, steadied herself, and

asked, Mr. Austin, would you mind coming with me to the police station? I’d really value your support.

Noelle shot her an encouraging smile. Not a problem

at all.

Kingsley finally looked somewhat relieved, though worry still creased his features.

So all of us headed to the police station together.

Noelle stayed by Amara’s side while she gave her statement, and Kingsley and I waited in the hallway.

We sat there for nearly an hour before the officers wrapped things up.

Then they told us Amara needed to go for a rape kit examination.

When we stepped out of the police station, I

immediately spotted Vincent lounging against the car door.

Moonlight washed over him, his long coat making him appear even taller and more imposing. With those sharp, sculpted features, he looked like he’d stepped out of some artist’s masterpiece.

The moment he saw our group, he straightened up, moving forwardclearly heading straight for me.

But when his gaze landed on Amara, he stopped cold. Whatever was going on, Amara’s wellbeing came first right now.

Amara caught Vincent’s hesitation and didn’t want everyone tiptoeing around her feelings.

So she turned to me and said, Blanche, let Mr. Austin and Mr. Jim take me to the hospital. Mr. Aarav probably needs to talk to you.”

Before I could respond, Amara was already walking toward the car.

As Amara climbed in, she heard me call out, Amara, everything’s going to be fine. Whatever happens, I’ve got your back.”

Amara gave me a small smile and nodded. I know.

Thanks.

I threw her an encouraging fist bump, then said, When this nightmare’s over, I’m buying you a few

drinks.

Amara smiled. Deal.

With that, Noelle drove off.

The instant the car vanished down the street, Vincent

couldn’t wait to close the distance between us.

He stopped right in front of me, looking down with that broad grin of his.

As he moved closer, I caught his scentclean soap with just a hint of tobacco.

It wasn’t overwhelming, just subtle enough to be intoxicating.

When Vincent stayed quiet, I tilted my head up and said softly, Thank you.

Vincent slipped his hands into his pockets, all casual confidence. Just didn’t want to see you stressed out, that’s all.”

Hearing that, I let out a quiet Mm,then added,

Everything’s handled now.

Vincent acted like he didn’t hear me, leaning in until his eyes were level with mine, flashing that signature cocky grin. When you say thank youdo you actually mean it, or are you just being polite?

I almost nodded automatically, but then caught myself, wondering what kind of trouble Vincent was cooking

  1. up.

Amused by my hesitation, Vincent reached out and flicked my nose playfully. If you really want to thank me, come watch a movie with me.”

I gave Vincent a confused look. You…”

I was certain he was about to try dragging me into some ridiculous promise again.

But surprisingly, all he wanted was this simple request.

Vincent frowned slightly and teased, What, you’re not interested?

I shook my head. No, it’s justI haven’t been to a movie in ages.

Vincent grinned. Perfect coincidence. Neither have I.

I blinked, surprised. Seriously?

Vincent reached out and gave my earlobe a gentle but slightly punishing tug, just to mess with me.

When he spoke, that familiar lazy, mischievous laughter threaded through his voice. Yeah.

Then he leaned down, bringing his warm lips close to my ear and grinned, saying softly, I’ve been waiting all this time for you to watch one with me.

Vincent sounded so genuine, but I couldn’t help rolling my eyes internally. Yeah, right, I thought.

I looked up at him and teased, But you know, word on the street is your girls rotate as fast as your wardrobe -there must be dozens lined up to catch a movie with you.

Vincent just grinned, completely unbothered. Like you said, that’s just street talk.”

I blinked and went silent, unsure how to respond to that.

Vincent opened the car door and, with a gentlemanly gesture, shielded the top for me. He flashed me a smile and said, Get in, my princess.

Hearing him call me princess, I couldn’t help thinking, He probably says that to every girl!

I bet Joanna’s heard him say it more times than she

can count.

With that thought, whatever warmth I’d felt just evaporated.

As soon as I slid into the seat, Vincent leaned in close, gently reaching over to buckle my seatbelt for me.

Once we reached downtown, Vincent parked and led me straight to the mall.

He navigated everything like a seasoned prosnagged the tickets, grabbed some popcorn, and ordered us both bubble tea.

With some time to kill before the movie started- about ten minutes leftVincent set the snacks down on a small table and announced he needed to take a few pictures.

268 Chapter 268 Posing For Wedding Photos

After snapping some shots of the bubble tea and movie tickets, Vincent turned to me with that

signature grin. How about we take a selfie together?

I felt a bit reluctant, but thinking about how Vincent had handled everything for Amara, I couldn’t bring myself to refuse.

I gave him a soft, gentle smile. Okay.

Vincent held up his phone, and the selfie captured us leaning in close, almost shoulder to shoulder.

I offered a gentle smile, a small dimple appearing at the corner of my lips as Vincent edged just a bit closer

to me.

On that screen, we looked unexpectedly perfect togetherlike a couple that just clicked.

Vincent kept tapping the shutter, snapping photo after photo. Then, catching me completely focused on the camera with my sweet smile, he suddenly leaned in and planted a quick kiss on my cheek.

He managed to capture that sweet moment, preserving it forever on his phone.

I was so stunned I barely had time to reactby the time I processed what had happened, Vincent had already finished and tucked his phone away with a satisfied grin.

When I looked back at him, I saw Vincent beaming at mehis smile soft, almost tender, with a glint of mischief and longing in his eyes, as if he wished this moment could stretch on forever.

Before I could even get a word out, Vincent leaned closer with a playful smirk. Tell me, didn’t that feel exactly like we were posing for wedding photos?
