269 Chapter 269 A Picture Ignites
Fury
Blanche’s POV
I stared at Vincent’s mischievous grin but kept my mouth shut.
He was smiling, but something about it looked forced
to me.
When I didn’t respond, Vincent scooted closer,
brushing his shoulder against mine, his voice turning playful and whiny. “Come on, just tell me, do I look like that or not?”
I turned my head away, noticing people lining up at the entrance for ticket checks.
I stood up and said to Vincent, “Come on, they’re letting people in now.”
Vincent glanced over and saw a few couples had already gone through.
Seeing me eager to get inside, Vincent reluctantly got

to his feet.
He grabbed the popcorn and milk tea while I held onto our movie tickets.
After getting our tickets checked, we found our theater and made our way to our seats.
As we sat down, I noticed couples everywhere–in front of us, behind us, on both sides.
A faint smile tugged at Vincent’s lips when he spotted this too.
Once the movie started, the whole theater went quiet.
Vincent had picked the tickets himself, following some online advice–he’d chosen a horror movie.
Just a few minutes after the commercials ended, scary and gory scenes started flashing on screen.
I could feel Vincent’s eyes on me the entire time, watching my every reaction instead of the movie.
Even during the most brutal, terrifying scenes, I stayed calm. If something startled me, I’d just close my eyes— I wasn’t about to throw myself into his arms.

Up front, some girl was practically glued to her boyfriend, scared out of her mind.
The guy was eating it up, pulling her close and whispering, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Next to them, another girl buried herself in her boyfriend’s arms while he wrapped her up and stole a quick kiss.
In that packed theater, everyone else was getting cozy, but I sat there completely focused on the screen.
The calmer I stayed, the more frustrated Vincent seemed to get.
By the end, he was just brooding.
As he sat there sulking, a sudden jump scare flashed on screen, and Vincent flinched, instinctively scooting closer to me.
I noticed him moving over and looked at him with a smirk. “Wait–you’re scared?”
Vincent glared at me, sounding annoyed. “Me? Scared? Yeah right.”

I glanced down at his hand, which was gripping my sleeve.
Noticing my look, Vincent slowly loosened his grip.
The movie kept playing, but Vincent wasn’t paying attention anymore.
Meanwhile, I was actually getting into it–completely
absorbed in the film.
Vincent sat there looking like he was on edge the
whole time.
I could tell he just wanted to bolt from that theater.
Vincent pulled out his phone and looked down at the screen. There was a sweet photo of us together.
Even though things hadn’t gone according to his plan, seeing that photo still seemed to fill him with warmth.
He opened Twitter and posted the movie tickets, popcorn, and our photo together.
He added a caption: “You came along with the moon.”
After posting, Vincent slipped his phone back into his pocket.

He watched me getting lost in the movie and seemed to decide to let me be–it wasn’t the time to interrupt.
At that moment, it wasn’t even about the movie
anymore.
Having me by his side–that seemed to be all he really cared about.
As soon as Vincent posted it, the tweet shot straight to trending.
Thousands of people were commenting and reposting, reactions flooding in.
Meanwhile, Drew was hanging out with Nicholas when he spotted the tweet on his phone.
When he saw that the girl in the photo with Vincent was Blanche, Drew practically exploded. Under his breath, he snapped, “Seriously? So shameless.”
Nicholas heard Drew cursing and turned around, curiosity written all over his face. “What’s eating you?”
Drew shoved his phone toward Nicholas, not

bothering to hide his irritation. “Just look at this.”
Nicholas took the phone, glanced at the photo, then handed it back with a grin. “They actually make a great couple, don’t you think?”
Drew’s face darkened with anger. “A great couple, my
ass!”
Nicholas chuckled, clearly amused. “What’s wrong
with them?”
Drew glared at him, frustrated. “Seriously, whose side
are you on?”
Nicholas sighed and shook his head. “Hey, I’m just calling it like I see it.”
Drew didn’t want to argue with Nicholas, so he just shrugged it off. “Forget it, I’m not gonna fight about this. Zain belongs with Joanna, and whoever Blanche ends up with has nothing to do with me.”
With that, he saved the photo and sent it to Zain on WhatsApp.
He figured this would help Zain see Blanche for who she really was.

Only then would Zain be completely devoted to
Joanna.
Nicholas glanced over and saw Drew sending the photo to Zain, shooting him an annoyed look. “Stop sending Zain this stuff all the time.”
Drew rolled his eyes as he put away his phone. “Just mind your own business.”
Zain’s POV
After Carry’s fever finally broke, she drifted off to sleep.
I sat beside her bed, looking down at my daughter’s pale face, my heart heavy with worry and tenderness.
But then my phone screen lit up with a notification.
I instinctively glanced over, thinking it was probably a message from Blanche at this hour.
After all, Carry was her daughter–as her mom, there’s no way Blanche would just stay out of it.
So I picked up my phone to check.

But what appeared on the screen was a picture of Blanche and Vincent, snuggled up together like a couple.
That was the last straw–I gripped my phone until my knuckles turned white, hands trembling
uncontrollably.
After turning off the screen, I looked back at Carry, lying in the hospital bed, so tiny and frail.
This was the age when she needed her mom most, but her mother was out there having romantic moments
with someone else.
Just thinking about it tore my heart apart.
I ran a hand over Carry’s head, then abruptly rose to my feet, my fury barely contained.
I was heading for the door when Joanna walked in.
Noticing my tense expression as I was about to leave, Joanna couldn’t help but ask, “Hey Zain, what’s wrong? Are you heading out?”
I looked up at her, my face cold and distant. “Just stay here with Carry. I need to go out for a bit.”

Joanna looked confused, her brow furrowing. “Zain, it’s so late–where are you going?”
I didn’t even glance her way, my voice icy. “I’m going to bring Carry’s mom here.”
With that, I stormed out of the room.
Joanna stood there, watching Zain walk away, her emotions in complete turmoil.
Not long ago, Zain had been seriously talking to her about getting married.
And now, it seemed like all of a sudden he was starting to care about Blanche again.
Insecurity flooded Joanna’s heart, swallowing her up in a cold rush.
