310 Chapter 310 Two Rivals One
Table
Blanche’s POV
Demetrius’s words hit me like a freight train.
The air between us turned thick and suffocating.
After an awkward beat, I forced a smile at Demetrius and Patty. “Let’s eat, the food looks fantastic. I bet it’s delicious.”
I figured the best way to handle Demetrius’s confession was to pretend it never happened.
If I made a big deal out of it, things would just get messier for everyone.
Demetrius didn’t push. He grabbed the serving chopsticks and started piling food onto my plate with careful attention.
Then he turned to Patty with a casual, “Patty, the food here tastes great. Have a bite.”
From where she sat, Patty picked up on everything

immediately.
Demetrius had it bad for me.
Patty had been carrying a torch for him for years.
The man was a total catch, always had women circling him, but somehow stayed unattached. Patty used to joke to herself: ‘Either he’s got some weird hang–up, or his heart’s already taken.‘
She’d never figured out who had Demetrius’s
attention, but watching him fuss over me tonight, everything clicked into place.
Even though disappointment flickered across her face, I could see her respect for how loyal Demetrius had been all these years.
He kept loading up my plate.
I felt obligated to be polite. “Thank you.”
His eyes went soft as he looked at me. “You don’t have
to be so formal with me.”
I smiled and left it at that.
Patty quietly worked on her own food, not waiting for

anyone to serve her.
To cut through the tension, I threw out random topics and did my best to include Patty in the conversation.
Lucky for me, Patty wasn’t the type to get petty or jealous.
When she realized Demetrius had feelings for me, she just rolled with it – no drama, no scene.
Dinner stayed relaxed, and we all managed to keep things civil.
Halfway through the meal, I glanced up at Patty across the table and caught Vincent walking through the front door in my peripheral vision.
—
Light rain was falling outside – when he pushed
through the door curtain, tiny droplets clung to his jacket.
Vincent scanned the room and zeroed in on me with
laser focus.
When our eyes met, I immediately looked away.
But he just walked over, stopped next to Demetrius,

and leaned down toward me. “Sweetheart, having dinner with friends?”
I kept my head down and didn’t answer.
When I ignored him, Vincent’s mouth curved into that cocky smirk, then he turned to Demetrius. “Mind if I join you guys for dinner, Mr. Jake?“.
For once, Demetrius dropped his nice–guy routine. “Yeah, I do.”
Vincent saw that coming from a mile away.
He didn’t get rattled, just laughed it off. “What’s with the attitude? I’m happy to cover my own meal.”
Demetrius quickly responded, “No need – it’s on me.”
Sure, this place wasn’t cheap, but Demetrius could easily afford it.
He had no problem treating Patty and me to dinner
somewhere like this.
Since Demetrius offered, Vincent dropped the
argument and grinned. “Okay then, I’m really going to order. Just a heads up – I never hold back when I’m at the table.”
–

He snatched the menu and started ordering like he owned the joint.
The second Vincent grabbed that menu, I finally looked up and gave him a cold stare. “This is a college
reunion.”
–
The message was crystal clear – get lost.
Vincent got my meaning instantly but didn’t seem fazed. “Yeah, I know. I’m just here to grab a bite, that’s all.”
He flagged down the waiter, ordered two more dishes, and snapped the menu shut.
The waiter scribbled down the order and disappeared.
Watching Vincent crash our dinner without shame made irritation bubble up in my chest. I looked at Demetrius and Patty. “Demetrius, Patty, maybe we should just go eat somewhere else?”
But Demetrius shook his head. “It’s fine. Let’s just eat.”
Demetrius knew the score – if Vincent tracked us
—
down here, he’d find us wherever we went.

We could hop from restaurant to restaurant all night, and Vincent would keep showing up.
After hearing Demetrius’s response, it dawned on me there was no escaping Vincent tonight.
So I dropped it and didn’t mention leaving again.
Seeing nobody was bailing, Vincent moved around Demetrius, clearly aiming for the seat next to me.
But Demetrius was faster – he slid into that spot
before Vincent could even think about it.
Vincent’s eyes narrowed, but instead of getting pissed, he pushed his tongue against his cheek and chuckled. “Mr. Jake, guess that medical training really pays off- you’re quick on your feet.”
–
Demetrius gave him a tight, fake smile. “You flatter me,
Mr. Aarav.”
With no other choice, Vincent had to take Demetrius’s
old seat.
As soon as he sat down, he noticed Patty kept stealing glances his way.
Curious, Vincent turned his head. “Hi there.”

Patty propped her chin on her hand, eyes sparkling with curiosity as she studied Vincent from head to toe.
It wasn’t attraction – Vincent’s face just seemed maddeningly familiar, like she’d met him somewhere before.
But no matter how hard she wracked her brain, she couldn’t place him.
When Vincent spoke to her, Patty couldn’t help blurting out, “You know, you look really familiar.”
Vincent had heard that line countless times. He flashed her a lazy grin. “That’s what everyone says when they’re trying to hit on me.”
But Patty looked dead serious. “I’m not kidding. I really feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
Vincent had heard every pickup line in existence, so he didn’t buy it. He just teased, “Maybe you saw me in your dreams?”
Patty rolled her eyes at his cocky response, let out a sharp breath, and smirked. “You’re pretty full of
yourself.”

Vincent just grinned. “Well, I wouldn’t go that far.”
I caught every word of their back–and–forth.
When Patty said Vincent looked familiar, I couldn’t help thinking, “That’s weird. Why does Patty think she knows Vincent too?‘
Maybe Vincent’s so–called lifesaver wasn’t actually me
after all.
When the new dishes arrived, Vincent put a couple portions on my plate before digging into his own food.
After tasting a few bites and realizing the food was actually decent, Vincent started to serve me more.
But I politely shut him down. “Thanks for the offer, but I’m already stuffed.”
Vincent just shrugged and focused on his own plate, leaving me alone.
Seeing this, Demetrius picked up his chopsticks and added more food to my plate.
This time, I didn’t refuse – I slowly ate what Demetrius had specially chosen for me.

Vincent made a quiet huffing sound when he saw that, unable to hide his reaction.
He wasn’t happy about it, but he kept his irritation locked down and didn’t let it show.
Patty sat to the side, pretty much finished with her meal, but she couldn’t stop sneaking looks at Vincent.
Vincent was handsome and definitely eye–catching, but Patty kept getting this nagging sense of déjà vu when she looked at him like she’d run into him
—
before, but she just couldn’t figure out where.
Her brain felt scrambled, so she decided to give up and stop trying to place him.
