315 Chapter 315 Some Things Need
Saying
Zain’s POV
Seeing me agree, Nathan flashed a small grin. “It’s getting late, and Joanna’s not here. I’ll let you get some
rest.”
I had zero interest in making Nathan stick around. I got up to walk him out.
But then footsteps echoed from upstairs.
I instinctively spun around and spotted Blanche coming down the stairs.
She wore a thin nightgown, her hair still damp from washing.
Hearing the footsteps, Nathan glanced up too.
The moment Nathan saw it was Blanche, he went completely still, clearly thrown off guard.
Finally snapping back to reality, Nathan stared at me with total confusion. “Zain, wait–what the hell is she

doing here?”
I stood up and answered, “Nathan, I forgot to introduce her earlier–this is my wife, Blanche.”
I said each word slowly and clearly, like I was worried he might not buy it.
Nathan already knew Blanche was my wife, so he barely seemed to give a damn. He just nodded slightly. “Yeah.”
After that, Nathan locked his eyes on Blanche with a scrutinizing stare, checking her out from head to toe.
Her skin was pale and flawless, and even without any makeup, she had this rare, untouched quality about
her.
Sure, she wasn’t the hottest woman Nathan had ever seen, but for some reason, I could tell he was thinking, ‘I wonder what she’d be like–kind of want to find out.“”
Blanche noticed Nathan eyeing her, but she completely ignored it, not even bothering to acknowledge him.
She’d only come downstairs for water, so she headed

straight to the kitchen.
When she came back out, Nathan and I were still in
the living room.
Seeing Blanche emerge, I walked over. “Blanche, I’m walking Nathan out. Why don’t you go back upstairs?”
Blanche nodded. “Okay.”
She hadn’t planned to wait for me, but since I seemed to have the wrong idea, she just went with it.
Right then, her phone buzzed–Amara calling.
When Blanche answered, Amara’s voice came through sounding pretty down. “Blanche, I need to see you.”
Blanche didn’t hesitate. “Okay, I’ll be right there.”
After changing upstairs, Blanche came down just as I walked back through the front door from seeing Nathan off. Our timing was perfect.
Noticing Blanche in different clothes, I looked
confused. “Going somewhere?”
Blanche nodded. “Yeah, Amara called–she wants to
meet.”

“I’ll drive you,” I offered.
She hesitated briefly, then agreed. “Okay.”
Thirty minutes later, my flashy Daniel pulled up in front of Amara’s apartment building.
Blanche got out while I stayed behind the wheel. I rolled down the window and called to her as she headed inside, “I’ll wait for you down here.”
“Okay,” Blanche replied, walking into the complex.
Blanche’s POV
Once upstairs, I paused outside Amara’s apartment before knocking.
Amara didn’t answer immediately. Her voice sounded tense from. inside. “Who is it?”
I could tell Amara was scared, so I spoke softly. “It’s me, Amara.”
Relief washed over Amara when she recognized my voice, and she quickly unlocked the door.

The second the door opened, we threw our arms
around each other.
Amara was crying, tears streaming down her face. Between shaky breaths, she managed, “The police called… Marquis wants to see me.”
I gently rubbed Amara’s back and asked softly, “Do you want to see him?”
Amara hesitated, uncertainty flickering in her eyes, then said, “Yeah… I really do. There are some things I need to say to his face.”
I knew Amara had truly moved on–after all, if she hadn’t, she never would’ve decided to press charges against Marquis.
Without hesitation, I said, “If you want to see him, we’ll go. I’ll be right there with you.”
Hearing me say that, Amara’s resolve grew stronger.
Seeing Amara quietly relax, I couldn’t help asking, “Want to go now?“.
Amara nodded. “Yeah, let’s go right now.”

Once Amara pulled herself together, we walked
downstairs together.
When Amara said she was getting ready, all she did was quickly wash her face and throw on clean, simple
clothes.
Unlike before, every time Amara used to meet
Marquis, she’d always dress to kill, going all out with her appearance.
But this time, she was completely natural–quietly understated, with nothing extra.
As Amara and I came out of the gate together, Zain was leaning casually against his car, cigarette in hand.
Seeing us both, he paused, confusion crossing his face, then flicked his half–smoked cigarette to the ground.
He crushed the stub under his heel before looking up. at me with a smile. “Heading back?”
I looked up at him. “Amara and I need to go to the police station. You should head home.”
Zain frowned slightly. “Want me to pick you up later?”
I nodded. “Okay, I’ll call you when I’m ready.”

I didn’t hesitate–just stuck out my hand and flagged down a cab.
I slid into the backseat without looking back and gave the driver the police station address. The car shot forward, disappearing into the night.
Zain’s POV
I watched the cab speed away, my smile fading as my expression darkened.
I got back in my car and lit another cigarette.
This time, I waited until I finished smoking before starting the engine.
By the time I got back to Blissfield Villa, Heidi Irvin was hanging around the living room..
Spotting her, I called out, “Heidi, where’s Carry?”
Heidi wiped sweat from her forehead with her sleeve before answering, “She just went to bed.”
I simply nodded. “Alright.”
With that, I turned to head upstairs.

But Heidi couldn’t help calling out, “Mr. Jacob!”
I spun around, puzzled. “Something wrong?”
Heidi’s eyes were red and swollen as she looked at me, her voice trembling slightly. “Mr. Jacob, you really should have Mrs. Jacob come home to take care of
Miss Carry.”
My brows drew together, concern in my tone. “What do you mean? Isn’t Joanna taking proper care of her?”
Heidi replied firmly, without hesitation. “No, she really isn’t. If this keeps up, Miss Carry’s going to get corrupted sooner or later.”
I gave Heidi a cold sideways look, my voice dropping to a steely whisper. “Heidi, you’re just staff at Blissfield Villa. Maybe you should think twice before stepping out of line with comments like that.”
Heidi’s fear was obvious, but she wouldn’t back down. “Mr. Jacob, I know I’m only the housekeeper, but I treat this family like my own. That’s the only reason I dare speak like this. Miss Carry is such a precious child, but if Joanna keeps influencing her this way, she’ll eventually turn into a spoiled brat nobody can

stand.”
I listened, my voice ice–cold. “Enough. I make the decisions here. I don’t need your input.”
With that, I turned and headed upstairs without
another word.
Heidi stood frozen in the living room, her whole body going numb.
I retreated to my study, but Heidi’s words kept. replaying in my head, haunting me no matter how hard I tried to push them away.
I sat there, lighting cigarette after cigarette, until smoke swirled around me and the ashtray overflowed -only then did I quietly make a decision.
I pulled out my phone and shot Joanna a quick text: “Unless something comes up, you don’t need to come to Blissfield Villa for the next couple days.”
Joanna fired back almost instantly: “Sure.”
No hesitation, no questions–just that one word.
I gripped my phone, caught off guard.
315 Chapter 315 Some Things Need Saying
All that time smoking… I was rehearsing how I’d explain this to Joanna, I thought, feeling pretty ridiculous.
But she didn’t say a word or ask anything. I almost
couldn’t believe it.
