The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 101

His expression was grim, a trace of impatience flashing in his eyes. His grandfather had repeatedly guaranteed that this Ms. Cheney was punctual and reliable, but now it seemed...

Just as he was preparing to stand up and leave, a commotion suddenly erupted at the restaurant entrance.

"Miss, you can't go in like that!"

The anxious voice of a server drifted over.

Callahan looked up, only to see a slender figure walking in briskly, her hair slightly messy and her clothes stained with dust. Her gaze searched the restaurant, finally locking onto him. A complex emotion flickered in her eyes.

Leilani didn't want to meet Callahan looking like a mess, either. She had originally planned to contact Dante first to explain the situation, but her phone was broken, so she had to come in person.

She walked quickly toward him, just about to speak.

“Ring, ring.”

Callahan's cell phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID, his expression changing instantly. He picked up immediately. "What is it?"

The urgent voice of a bodyguard came from the other end. "Mr. Langley, Arnold was poisoned in the ward! Fortunately, we discovered it in time. The suspect has been restrained. We're waiting for you to handle it!"

Callahan's eyes instantly turned cold and sharp as a knife. "I'm on my way."

He hung up the phone. His gaze swept over Leilani, who was standing in front of him and seemed to have something to say. He frowned slightly. "I have an emergency and need to leave now. Whatever you have to say, save it for when I get back."

With that, he strode away without even giving her a chance to speak.

Leilani couldn't help but smile, explaining on Callahan's behalf, "He received an urgent call. It seemed very important."

"What could be more important than you?" Dante complained angrily. "That boy has been like this since he was little—cold as ice, zero emotional intelligence! Ms. Cheney, please don't take it to heart. I'll lecture him properly later!"

Leilani laughed. "Mr. Langley, don't blame him. I was the one who missed the appointment today. I'll visit you personally another day to apologize to you and him."

"Apologize for what?" Dante waved his hand dismissively. "If anyone should apologize, it's that brat! How about this: in a couple of days, I'll make him pick you up personally, and you two can have a proper meeting!"

Leilani opened her mouth, intending to decline, but Dante was already enthusiastically making arrangements. She had no choice but to agree helplessly. "Alright, whatever you say."

After hanging up, Leilani looked at her new phone and sighed softly. Her "blind date" with Callahan was certainly full of twists and turns.
