The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 174

Leilani dragged her suitcase out of the train station. The sunlight in Brass City was much harsher than in Alloy City, making her skin feel uncomfortably warm. She raised her hand to block the glaring light when her phone vibrated. A message from Floyd Dillon popped up.

[Leilani, no rush. Marlon will take a while to get there. You can get settled first. It’s fine if you arrive a bit later.]

She replied with a quick "Okay" and put her phone away.

Leilani stood there for a moment, thinking. Since the Moonlight Herb had arrived, she would likely be staying in Brass City longer than last time. Brass City was much larger, and she would be traveling back and forth often. Relying on taxis wouldn't be practical.

Moreover, the villa district was too far from the city center and had no cell service. She couldn't risk a situation like last time where she missed important messages. Arnold's condition was worse than she had anticipated, and she needed to avoid any emergencies.

So, Leilani made a decision. She needed to buy a car for commuting and rent a place in the city. She would just drive into the villa for treatments.

The last time she came to Brass City, the Watson family's driver had picked her up. She had closed her eyes to rest the entire way and hadn't paid attention to the route. Since the villa was in a signal-dead zone, she couldn't even send a location pin.

Since Marlon hadn't arrived yet, she might as well go look at cars now.

Deciding to act immediately, Leilani hailed a cab and gave the driver the address of a commercial district known for its car dealerships.

Leilani walked into a high-end dealership, her gaze sweeping over the SUVs in the showroom.

Seeing her young age and simple attire, the salesman’s attitude was lukewarm. "Which model would you like to see, Miss?"

"That black Range Rover. Do you have any in stock?" She pointed to the center of the showroom.

Although Leilani wasn't entirely sure why Brenda was targeting her, she knew one thing: if there's a grievance, address it; if there's a grudge, settle it. Judging by Brenda's attitude, she was obviously looking for trouble.

"What a coincidence," Leilani said, looking at Brenda with a faint, unreadable smile, prepared to handle whatever came her way.

She didn't know that Brenda hated that calm, composed expression more than anything. Thinking of the photo Beatty had sent her last night—of Leilani and Callahan looking intimate—Brenda was consumed by jealousy.

Leilani was just a girl from the countryside. She had served four years in prison. Brenda couldn't understand why Callahan and Dante were so blind as to be interested in such a woman. Even Judie and Letty seemed to protect and adore her.

Brenda stared at Leilani, a trace of malice flashing in her eyes. She stepped closer, the corners of her red lips curving up. Her gaze scanned Leilani like a precision instrument, as if trying to strip her bare.

"Ms. Sloan, are you here to buy a car? But..." She glanced at the salesman. "A friend of mine owns this dealership. I'm afraid it wouldn't be appropriate to sell to you."
