The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 929

Callahan grabbed Leilani's hand, sprinting down the hallway. Together, they tore up the final flight of stairs leading to the roof.

Without breaking stride, Callahan delivered a vicious kick, blasting the heavy steel door off its hinges.

Crash!

The biting city wind slammed into them.

But it was too late.

The dark silhouette of a helicopter was already tearing through the night sky, aggressively banking southeast. Its navigation lights blinked rhythmically, rapidly shrinking into a distant speck before melting seamlessly into the sprawling ocean of city lights below.

Operating on pure muscle memory, Callahan raised his sidearm, tracking the chopper. But the distance was too great. Firing now would just be wasting brass in the wind.

Furious, he slammed his fist into the concrete parapet, sending chips of cement flying.

"He got away."

Leilani stared at the vanishing dot in the sky, her brow furrowed in deep frustration.

The escape was entirely too clean. The mastermind had his exfiltration prepped and waiting.

Looking back at the entire ordeal, it was obvious the guy never intended to face them in a fair fight.

Who exactly was pulling the strings? Why were they so overly cautious?

He didn't even dare to use his real voice.

Leilani racked her brain, cross-referencing every enemy or powerful figure she knew, trying to find a match for this level of psychopathy and resources.

Nothing fit.
