“I recall the Lambert family’s son is a playboy who only knows how to party and drink. For a boss to raise such a son, I estimate his company won't last very long either. What do you gentlemen think?”
With just a few light words, everyone understood. It was likely because Padgett had offended Callahan. He was probably just giving them a heads-up. He was about to deal with the Lambert family. If those of them who worked closely with the Lamberts didn't pull out in time, they would likely suffer heavy losses as well.
Mr. Palmer gritted his teeth and immediately stated his position.
“Mr. Langley is right! Raising a son like that shows the Lambert family has poor values. A company with poor values can't last long. Horizon Realty will re-evaluate all cooperation with the Lambert family starting tomorrow!”
Mr. Larson quickly followed suit. “Vansh Capital too! Such an unstable partner indeed poses too great a risk.”
His goal achieved, Callahan lowered his eyes, the corners of his mouth curling into a satisfied smile. Tracing the rim of his glass with a fingertip, he raised it to acknowledge them.
“Everyone here is a smart person. This toast is to you.”
Who among them wasn't shrewd in the business world? Callahan’s few sentences were like a boulder thrown into a calm lake; the ripples spread rapidly.
In less than a day, every enterprise that had dealings with the Lambert family received word that the Lamberts had offended the Langley family.
...
Three days later, at the Lambert Construction headquarters.
Fabio Lambert slammed the table in rage. “What is going on? Why are so many partners suddenly canceling orders?”
The secretary trembled. “Mr. Watson, Mr. Larson, Mr. Palmer... they all said they aren't renewing for the time being. Even the projects with signed contracts are being re-evaluated...”
Fabio’s face turned ashen. “Are they crazy? Don't they know the penalty fees?”
The secretary swallowed hard and spoke cautiously. “I heard... the word came from the Langley Group.”
“Langley Group? When did we ever offend the Langley family?”
The Chief Financial Officer rushed in, his face pale. “Mr. Lambert, it’s bad! The bank suddenly refused our loan application, saying there are issues with our qualifications!”
The Lambert family went bankrupt? How could it be such a coincidence? Padgett was acting arrogant at the entrance of her residential complex just a few days ago, and now his family fortune was gone in the blink of an eye?
Leilani instantly realized this likely had something to do with Callahan. She immediately dialed his number.
The call connected, and the man’s deep voice came through. “Hello, Leilani. What's wrong?”
Leilani got straight to the point. “You did the thing with the Lambert family, didn't you?”
There was silence on the other end for two seconds, followed by a faint response.
“Yeah.”
Crisp and clear, without any attempt to hide it.
“Why?”
