The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 607

Leilani just smiled and didn't respond.

Judie had invited Leilani and Yvonne for coffee, but Leilani was busy helping Ethan with a case and didn't have the time. So, in the end, it was just Judie and Yvonne on their coffee date.

Judie stirred her latte, sighing with boredom. "Leilani is way too busy. How many times has she bailed on us now?"

Yvonne chewed on her straw and mumbled an agreement. "It seems like she's been helping a friend with a case lately."

She'd seen him a few times when she went down to throw out the trash.

"A case?" Judie tilted her head in confusion. "Who is it? When did Leilani make friends with a police officer?"

"It's a recent thing, I guess."

Yvonne wasn't sure when Leilani and Ethan had met either. All she knew was that Ethan had been picking Leilani up downstairs every day, rain or shine.

"Leilani said he's a detective and that they knew each other when they were kids."

*Wow*, Judie thought. *So they're childhood friends?*

"A detective?" Judie's interest was piqued. "Is he handsome?"

Yvonne nodded. "Very handsome." The kind of classically handsome that would appeal to most people.

Judie's eyes widened, and she pouted indignantly. "How am I supposed to notice that? I haven't seen you guys in ages, not since Leilani got out of the hospital. How would I know what's going on with them? What happened? Stop keeping me in suspense and just tell me!"

Judie felt like she was going to die of curiosity.

Yvonne hesitated for a moment before recounting what had been happening with Leilani and Callahan. "It probably started a few nights ago. When Leilani came back from your cousin's place, she was in a terrible mood, completely out of it. I've never seen her look like that before. She wasn't even that distraught when the Sloans were giving her a hard time."

Judie's mouth fell open in shock. They both knew Leilani's personality—she was always so emotionally stable and composed. For someone like her to show such an expression, it was obvious that something serious had happened.

Then, Yvonne continued, "At first, I thought she was just having a bad day at work. But then, when Leilani and I went down for lunch, we ran into your cousin in the elevator…"
