The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 650

“If you feel unwell at any time, tell me, and I can call the doctor over. Or you can tell Gloria; she has the doctor’s number as well.”

At the mention of Gloria, Tamara’s expression became a little unnatural. Fitch had demanded that the whole family attend the check-up, but Gloria, already irritated by what she saw as Tamara’s smugness, had refused to come. So, of the Sherwoods, only Fitch and Milford had been present.

But dealing with Gloria was a long-term project. For now, her best course of action was to obediently follow Fitch’s arrangements.

Tamara nodded meekly. “I understand. I’ll be sure to take good care of myself.” She paused, then asked hesitantly, “About Milford…”

Fitch sighed. “Milford has a cold personality. Don’t take it to heart. Once the baby is born, he’ll understand.”

Tamara forced a smile. “Okay.”

But would he really? Would a man like Milford truly change his opinion of her just because of a child?

She looked down at the ultrasound photo, her gaze hardening with resolve. No matter what, this child would be her strongest protection.

Perhaps sensing how much Fitch valued the baby, Tamara was sitting in the living room the next day, waiting for him. She planned to talk to him about Gloria.

He paused, then added vaguely, “You know how much she dotes on Yvonne. She was by Yvonne’s side for all those years she was in the rehabilitation center. That’s why she’s been so hostile toward you since learning the truth.”

Tamara’s expression flickered at the mention of Yvonne.

Fitch, seemingly oblivious, continued, “Gloria is just fiercely protective of her daughter. What happened to Yvonne was a huge blow, and it’s made her this rigid. Perhaps, with time, she’ll soften. For now, I’m afraid you’ll have to bear with it. If it becomes too much, I could arrange for you and Milford to stay at our family’s spa resort for a while.”

Absolutely not! Tamara thought in a panic. While Milford had agreed not to force her to get an abortion, that was only because Fitch was here at the estate. If she were alone with Milford, she was terrified he might do something to hurt her.
