The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 664

Leilani, meanwhile, wore a simple white dress, her soft hair falling over her shoulders, making her skin look as white as snow. Her features were delicate and beautiful, giving her a clean, gentle aura. Standing together, one cool and composed, the other elegant and soft, they looked like a pair straight out of a painting, so perfectly matched it was hard to look away.

At the sound of footsteps, Dante and Letty looked up. “You’re back?”

Dante’s gaze immediately fell on their joined hands, or more specifically, on the two glittering rings. His eyes lit up and he shot to his feet. “Is that…?”

Letty noticed too, covering her mouth in surprise. “Callahan, are you two…?”

Callahan remained perfectly calm as he led Leilani to the dining table. “Yes. I proposed to Leilani today.”

The result, of course, was self-evident. If he had failed, she wouldn’t be wearing the ring.

Leilani’s cheeks grew warm under their intense, happy gazes.

Dante slammed a hand on the table and roared with laughter. “Excellent! Excellent! I knew this boy was planning something big!”

Letty’s eyes were slightly misty as she got up and took Leilani’s hand. “Leilani, this is wonderful… I’ve been waiting for this day.”

With her years of wisdom, Letty instantly understood that their recent conflict was likely because of this. She shot a glare at Callahan. “You rascal, how could you not tell us about something so important!” She could have at least offered her son some advice from her own experience.

She fiddled with her nails, her voice just loud enough for the whole table to hear. “Plenty of young people get engaged today and break up tomorrow. Even if you get married, you can still get divorced.”

Callahan had just successfully proposed, and the mood was celebratory. For Reese, Callahan’s own aunt, to say something so ominous at a time like this was completely out of line. Moreover, everyone at the table was sharp enough to understand the subtext. Reese's words were clearly aimed at Leilani. It wasn’t the first time Talbot’s family had targeted her, either.

The cheerful chatter at the table died instantly. Dante’s face darkened, and the smile on Letty’s face froze. Callahan looked up, his gaze as sharp as a knife as it fell on Reese.

But Reese seemed oblivious, continuing her passive-aggressive remarks. “If you ask me, a wife should come from a family of equal standing. What does this one have, aside from knowing how to stick a few needles in people? No family name, no connections… Only Letty is generous enough to accept her. If my son brought home a wife like that, I would never agree to it.”

She might as well have stood up and pointed her finger directly at Leilani.
