“Just saw an acquaintance.” She took a sip of red wine, her eyes holding a meaningful look as she turned to Molly. “Guess who she is?”
Molly peered through the glass window, squinting, but couldn’t place the person. “That girl doesn’t look like she’s from our circle, does she? I’ve never seen her before.”
She looked back at Brenda. “Who is she? Do you have a problem with her?”
Brenda gritted her teeth. “A problem is an understatement. She’s Callahan Langley’s ‘fiancée’!”
Brenda had heard the news from Beatty Langley, and she had nearly gone mad with jealousy. She had always assumed Callahan was just toying with Leilani. She never imagined they would actually end up together.
At the mention of Callahan’s name, Molly’s eyes widened. Callahan Langley? The legendary heir to the Langley Group?
Callahan was a huge name in their circle, and countless girls had crushes on him, her own best friend Brenda included. Now Molly understood why Brenda had been taking photos.
“So that’s Mr. Langley’s girlfriend,” Molly mused. No wonder she’d never seen her before. “She’s quite beautiful, though. It’s no surprise she’s with him.”
Hearing this, Molly began to study Ethan more closely.
The man sitting opposite Leilani was tall and well-built, with broad shoulders and long legs. As they sat by the coffee shop window, the sunlight slanted across his profile, highlighting a sharp jawline.
In contrast to Leilani's delicate and cool beauty, Ethan was more ruggedly handsome. His eyes were deep-set, his nose high and straight, and he projected a calm, stoic presence that softened almost imperceptibly whenever he looked at Leilani. Even in a simple shirt and pants, he looked tall, handsome, and distinguished—clearly not an ordinary man.
And as a woman, Molly could tell right away that the way Ethan looked at Leilani was anything but ordinary.
