The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 746

The reporters stare at each other, their faces masking pure shock and confusion.

When Leilani was brought back to the Sloan family, they were so embarrassed by her rural upbringing that they never publicly acknowledged her existence. As a result, the press has absolutely no idea who she is.

Most of the journalists here cover corporate and financial news. As far as they know, the Sloans only have one daughter: Tamara Sloan.

Who the hell is Leilani? And why is the first time they are hearing her name at a press conference announcing her disownment?

The room buzzes with frantic whispers.

"Doesn't the Sloan family only have one daughter? Where did this one come from?"

"Wait, the name Leilani sounds really familiar."

"I've never heard of her. Who is she?"

"Other than Tamara Sloan, there's no record of another daughter."

"Could she be an illegitimate child Hackett had with a mistress?"

"But if she's illegitimate, why hold a massive press conference just to sever ties?"

After a brief moment of shock, the reporters smell a massive scandal. Hands shoot up, and questions are fired like machine-gun rounds.

"Mr. Sloan! Is Ms. Leilani your biological daughter? Why has she never been introduced to the public?"

He shoots a look at the attorney beside him. The lawyer steps up to the mic, displays the notarized documents, and officially confirms that the severance is fully legal and binding.

The press, of course, isn't satisfied with corporate PR speak. The probing gets more aggressive. Suddenly, someone in the crowd pieces it together—Leilani's past connection to Callahan.

"Mr. Sloan!" a reporter shouts. "I remember now! Is this the same Dr. Sloan who was cyberbullied by your youngest son and went viral a while back? Does this legal severance have anything to do with that incident?"

Hackett's face pales. He hadn't anticipated anyone remembering the online scandals. Guilt over how they treated Leilani spikes in his chest.

He forces himself to remain composed and abruptly cuts off the questions. "This concludes today's press conference. No further comments will be made. Thank you all."

Refusing to give them another second, Hackett turns and practically flees the room under the heavy protection of his security detail, leaving behind a room full of screaming reporters and a massive unsolved mystery.
