The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 771

Far away at the Sherwood estate, Tamara had no idea what was unfolding. When Hackett’s call came through, she was curled up on the living room sofa, watching the noon business news. The anchor's crisp voice echoed through the spacious room.

"...Reports confirm that the heavily indebted Sloan Group has seen its stock plummet once again, hitting a historic low in midday trading."

"Sources indicate that their core asset, the Southgate International project, has officially halted construction due to a ruptured cash flow. Crowds of suppliers have gathered at their headquarters demanding overdue payments. Sloan Group may be facing imminent bankruptcy and restructuring..."

Tamara bolted upright, her eyes glued to the television screen, her brows knitted together in alarm.

The Sloan family was in trouble? What was going on?

While she didn't understand the intricacies of corporate finance, she knew one thing for certain: the only reason she was able to live so comfortably and untouched in the Sherwood household was because she had the Sloan family backing her. If they went down, things wouldn't end well for her either.

Instinctively, she reached for her phone on the table, intending to call her mother, Zadie, to find out what was happening.

Perhaps a father and daughter shared some unspoken telepathy, because before she could even dial, Hackett’s name flashed across her screen. She was just about to answer.

Right at that moment, the sharp clicking of heels against the marble floor echoed from the hallway.

Gloria strolled out from the dining room, holding a cup of herbal tea. Her gaze casually swept across the TV screen, then landed on the buzzing phone in Tamara’s hand. Her expression instantly turned frigid.

"Who's calling you?"
