The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 824

He had been absolutely disgusted by her actions at the time.

What went on between him and Leilani was none of her business. Did she really think no one could see right through her pathetic little schemes?

Leilani hadn't really cared before, but hearing that Brenda had deliberately taken photos of her and Ethan to sabotage their relationship rubbed her the wrong way.

She didn't mind if another woman liked her boyfriend. But there were different ways to pursue someone. If Brenda had been upfront and honorable about it, she wouldn't have said a word. But playing these dirty little tricks was just incredibly trashy.

Her gaze swept over his handsome side profile, and for some inexplicable reason, a spark of irrational annoyance flared up in her chest, making her slightly irritated with him too.

Since she started dating him, how many times had she been judged, stalked, or dragged through the mud?

Picking up on the subtle shift in her eyes, his heart skipped a beat. He immediately sat up straight, eager to prove his loyalty. "Leilani, when she showed me those, I didn't believe a word of it."

Her intentions were too obvious. He wasn't stupid enough to jump right into a trap.

"Besides, we had just made up. Why would I ruin everything over some sketchy photos?"

"The second I got the message, I blocked her number."

He was never going to make the same mistake twice.

Seeing his rare, panicked rush to explain himself, the annoyance in her heart mostly evaporated.

It was frustrating, sure, but it wasn't his fault he was so attractive. Getting mad at him over this felt a bit unfair.

Still, he was the reason for the drama, and she wasn't going to let him off the hook that easily.

She deliberately kept her face stern and let out a soft hmph.

"Who knows?"

"That's what you're saying now, but how do I know what you were really thinking back then?"
