Dante's eyes were practically sparkling with expectation as he looked from Callahan to Leilani.
"If you two really want me to relax and enjoy my final years in peace, why not... why not officially set a date?"
"You've been together for a while now, and things are clearly going well. Isn't it time we started talking about the engagement party?"
In truth, Dante didn't even care about an engagement party. Since Leilani had already accepted Callahan's proposal, he would be thrilled if they just skipped straight to signing the marriage license and throwing the wedding.
He and Letty had already prepared the wedding funds and family gifts. They were just waiting for Leilani to say the word.
Callahan and Leilani exchanged a quick glance, both seeing the same affectionate exasperation in each other's eyes.
Under the table, Callahan gently took Leilani's hand. His warm, steady grip was incredibly reassuring. He turned back to his grandfather, his tone sincere. "We hear you, Grandpa. It's definitely on our minds."
He sighed slightly, genuinely feeling the weight of the delay. "It's just that Leilani and I have been completely swamped with work lately. We haven't had a single free moment to sit down and actually plan it."
"But I promise, as soon as we get back from Meloria Country, it'll be our top priority. We'll plan everything out and give you a proper timeline. How does that sound?"
Callahan wasn't just placating him. Between the corporate chaos and Leilani's clinic, they had barely had time to breathe, let alone organize an elaborate event.
"Always 'when we get back'!"
"You young people always use that excuse to brush off an old man."
But now, having entirely cut ties with the Sloans, they had no leverage and no reason to ever bother the Langleys.
Because of that, Leilani felt far more relaxed about stepping into a highly publicized marriage.
Hearing her thoughtful explanation, Dante's "stern" expression melted into a satisfied smile. He picked his fork back up. "Well, alright then."
"At least Callahan has some sense in him."
Dante knew his grandson well. Callahan was brilliant in business, but when it came to romance, he was as inexperienced as a teenager.
