The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 856

Leilani was so deeply focused on grinding the herbs that she didn't even bother to brush away the stray hairs sticking to her sweaty forehead. She completely ignored the fact that Tate had been pacing awkwardly in her peripheral vision for the last ten minutes.

Or rather, she noticed him, but simply didn't have the time to care.

The hulking mercenary was practically wringing his hands, looking entirely stripped of the terrifying aggression he’d displayed the night before. He kept stealing sheepish glances at her, opening his mouth to speak, and then snapping it shut, losing his nerve.

It wasn't until Leilani scooped the finished medicinal paste onto a broad leaf and stood up to head for Konrad’s tent that Tate finally made his move.

As she approached the entrance, a massive, heavily tattooed arm reached out and flipped the tent flap open for her. Leilani paused, glancing up to see Tate staring rigidly at the ground, silently holding the door like a chastised bodyguard.

She offered him a slight nod of acknowledgment and slipped inside.

Konrad was still unconscious, his face deathly pale, but his chest was rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

Leilani knelt beside him and efficiently unraveled his bandages to inspect the damage.

Thanks to the emergency acupuncture, the horrifying swelling had gone down significantly, but the tissue around the bites still looked dark and infected, a sign that the venom was lingering.

She cleansed the area with sterile water, carefully applied the freshly ground Violet Haze paste, and wrapped it in clean gauze.
