The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 979

Talbot sounded incredibly sincere, as if he were carrying the weight of the family's survival on his shoulders.

"For my protection?"

Dante spun around, his eyes blazing like lightning, zeroing in on his supposedly dutiful son. The glare was sharp enough to slice right through Talbot's pristine facade.

"Talbot Langley, you are my son! I know exactly how your twisted mind works! If you actually gave a damn about my safety, you'd pull these goons out of my house this instant!"

"I've weathered a lifetime of storms in the corporate world. Do you think I'm so senile that I need to be monitored like a prisoner in my own home by my own flesh and blood?!"

Dante's words lashed out like a whip, leaving a brief, sinister flicker in Talbot's eyes. Talbot let out another heavy sigh, playing up his "helplessness."

"Dad, please don't be stubborn."

"My older brother passed away early, and now Callahan is... The entire company is in a panic, and the major shareholders are getting restless. You're getting older; your health can't handle the stress. If something happens to you, this family is finished. Do you really want to watch the empire Grandpa built crumble to dust?"

Talbot laid out his argument smoothly, without a single ounce of shame.

Without waiting for his father to counter, Talbot tilted his head and shot a subtle look to his men. The two hulking bodyguards immediately stepped forward, taking up positions on either side of the old man. While technically standing at attention, their sheer size created an invisible, suffocating perimeter around Dante.

"What do you think you're doing?" Jarvis shouted, his face paling as he instinctively lunged forward to intervene.

A third bodyguard stepped smoothly into Jarvis's path, planting himself like a brick wall. His face was blank, but his physical threat was absolute.

"I promise you, I'll take the Langley Group to new heights."

In Talbot's mind, no matter how capable Callahan had been, he was still just a kid.

Talbot felt that while he might not have matched his late older brother, he was more than qualified to outmaneuver a twenty-something brat.

"In your dreams!" Dante violently wrenched his arm out of Talbot's grip, stumbling slightly from the sheer adrenaline. Jarvis watched in absolute terror.

"As long as I have breath in my lungs, you will not hijack this family with your dirty tricks!"
