Dante showed absolute zero mercy, ripping away Talbot's facade.
Talbot's face twitched violently. He didn't make a single move toward the door.
Taking a half-step back, the respectful son act completely evaporated. The temperature in the room plummeted.
Staring down at the old man, his voice turned ice-cold. "Since you want to be blunt, I won't waste your time."
"You want to walk out of that door? Fine."
"Sign over your shares in the Langley Group, and draft a formal statement naming me as your sole successor. Do that, and I will personally escort you out."
This was the endgame.
He reached into his jacket, pulled out a thick legal document, and shoved it in front of Dante.
Dante didn't even glance at it. He slapped the file away, sending the papers scattering across the floor. "In your dreams! Callahan is the only heir to the Langley Group! As long as I have breath in my lungs, you will never touch that chair!"
"Callahan?"
Talbot let out a dark, grating laugh. He couldn't believe the old man was still banking on a ghost.
But since Callahan was already a corpse, Talbot didn't care.
He casually bent down and started gathering the papers. "Dad, stop lying to yourself. It's all over the news. Callahan was blown to pieces in Myanor. There isn't even enough of him left to put in a coffin, and you think he's coming back to take over?"
He took a step closer, intentionally twisting the knife. "Actually... you're the reason he's dead."
"I'm your son too! Why do they get handed the world on a silver platter while I have to beg for scraps like a dog?"
The perceived injustice had eaten Talbot alive for decades. His voice escalated into a roar.
Dante gasped for air, his trembling finger pointing squarely at Talbot's chest. "If I had truly favored them, I would have thrown a treacherous snake like you out of this family years ago!"
"I put you on the board so you could support Callahan! So you two could run the empire as a family! But you... you tried to murder your own nephew!"
Far from feeling guilty, Talbot sneered. "Throw me out? You're too late, old man."
He waved the contract in Dante's face. "Seventy percent of the Langley Group already answers to me. My brother is dead. Callahan is dead. Do you honestly still think you're the all-powerful king sitting on a throne?"
Dante's chest he heave erratically, but his eyes were lethal. "As long as my heart is beating, you will never rule the Langleys! The board of directors, the Fulton family, the Palmer family—you think they'll just sit back and let you steal the crown?"
