Chapter 19
Raphael
I watch Valeria open her mouth. She sticks her tongue out and licks the tip of my dick. She looks up, locking eyes with me. It entices me to grab her by the hair and hold her in place.
“Open,” I demand.
Her lips part, and I slowly slide inside her mouth. A moan escapes me as my eyes flutter shut, lost in the rush of pleasure. Her wet, soft tongue moving from side to side speeds my release, but I don’t want it to end this fast, so I pull away.
With suddenness, and one hand, she holds my dick, cupping my balls. Her other hand grips the middle of my length, and then she slips the rest into her mouth. Her hands massage while she bobs her head back and forth. I have to hold on to the desk to keep balance, my body wanting to shudder. A rough grunt slips out as I fight to muffle the moans beneath it.
After a few good minutes of this, her mouth starts sucking, and it feels so damn good that it’s like she’s drawing the very soul from me. I let out a moan, on the edge of release, and I know she feels it as she takes me in completely. I can feel her wanting to gag, but I’m so deep in her mouth that she can’t, and then I come. It goes down her throat. I groan loudly and try to thrust, but there’s nowhere left to thrust. When I pull back, she draws in a deep breath, wipes her mouth, and looks up with a smile.
That smile lights a fire in me. I pick her up, wrapping her legs around me, and kiss her. My hands grip her ass and squeeze until she complains, but her lips still don’t part from mine until we’re both out of air.
“You… bastard,” she whispers. “You tore all of my clothes.”
I grin, pressing my lips to hers again, but she’s not having it. She pulls away, eyes narrowing.
“I told you I’d replace them.”
“Yeah, but I have to go back to my room, and I’m naked.”
Smiling, I set her down, pull off my shirt, and slip it over her. It hangs like a short dress.
I’d complain about her leaving if I could, but Father needs to know what happened. I kiss her, send her off with reluctance, and call for an emergency meeting.
Leaning against the wall, arms crossed, I wait for Father to arrive at his office, forcing myself not to drift into thoughts of my mate. My brothers fill the room. The younger ones chatter with Finn, while Tobias and I lock eyes in a silent battle. He thinks he can claim Valeria, but she’s already mine… even if she doesn’t yet realize it. I’m the one who’s touched her, tasted her, made her tremble with pleasure. And I’ll be the one to love her completely. Valeria is nothing more than a passing distraction to Tobias. When he tires of her, he’ll hunt for another bride. He’s just like Father.
Father arrives wearing his nightgown. “Why have I been so suddenly summoned?”
“Yeah, why the sudden meeting?” Finn asks.

“The enemy was at our doorstep,” I reveal. “A small army of men managed to enter our territory and camp. They planned to attack, but when we figured it out and went after them, they escaped.”
“Explain what you mean by ‘doorstep‘?” Father asks.
“They were just about fifty feet from the edge of the woods that overlook the castle.”
“WHAT?!” he shouts. “How?! How did they get in?”
“Nine of our border guards were killed. The enemy was not subtle.”
“A skirmish,” Finn mutters.
I nod. “I think they were here to sow unrest. Test us and make our people unnerved.”
Father nods once, firmly. “You did well, Raphael. Our people will remain high–spirited. So let’s keep it to ourselves.”
I did nothing. It was all Valeria. How? I have no damn idea. But she saved lives tonight. When she told me of her dream, I wasn’t sure what to do. I figured there was at least a one percent chance she was right. And even if it was only one percent, it was worth looking into. She was so serious, I knew she believed it. Maybe she didn’t have it all figured out, but her conviction was enough for me. Turns out she was right, and I’m glad I trusted her and myself.
Father speaks. “I know that you, Raphael, and Finn are taking turns leading the guards during the day and night, but I want Emmet and his guards to follow under Finn during the day, and Dorian and his men will join Raphael at night. Cover every area. Antonio will continue to train the recruits.”
We all nod.
“In two days, our generals will be heading out to secure the packs bordering the River Stone Pack that is now occupied by enemies. Their next move will be, obviously, to expand, but I wasn’t expecting them to slip a small force through our packs to make it here and hit us straight on.”
“Alpha Astaroth is unpredictable,” Tobias mutters.
I agree. “Yeah, but that means he’ll make mistakes.”
Father nods. “And in a war, a mistake could cost you everything.”
“I don’t like that they slipped through so easily,” Tobias says. “Are there any Alphas here that aren’t one hundred percent with us?”
“It’s always a possibility,” Father says.
“Hm… with an assassin slipping in so easily as well, I think it’s best if we’re sure. So then I guess I’ll find out,” Tobias says.
Since Tobias is the Crown Prince, he deals more with the political side of the war.
Father nods. “Good. It’s best to be thorough. We’ll continue tomorrow, but what happened tonight does

not leave this room.” He turns to me. “Tell your men who were involved.”
As Tobias moves past me to leave, he stops, face hard as stone. His glare cuts deep before he walks off, and I can’t help but smirk. He smelled her on me–Valeria. With werewolves, intimacy leaves a scent that lingers, impossible to hide. Maybe this will keep him away from her now.
Smiling, I glance at my father, reminded of the unpleasant talk I owe him about Fera–my supposed soon-
to–be mate.
“Dad, I need to speak with you about Fera.”
“What about her?” he asks.
When the last person in the room slips away, I answer him. “I can’t mate with her.”
He throws his hands in the air, dismissing me. “There’s nothing to talk about with this. It is done and agreed upon.”
“No. I won’t.”
“Need I remind you of the reason I took you back?”
“I can leave again if that’s what you want,” I tell him. “I left for many reasons, and I only returned for Mother. You need me here, as second in line to the crown, in case something happens to Tobias. I’ll stay, but only on the condition that I choose my own mate.”
He lifts a brow. “You don’t get to make demands.”
“I can have my car ready in thirty minutes,” I warn him. I am not bluffing and he knows it. I’ll kidnap Valeria in process too.
He takes a deep breath and sits down behind his desk. “Fera’s father has one of the biggest packs in our territory. We need him for this war.”
“Then give her to Tobias. As you said, he’s looking for another mate.”
Let the fucker stop sniffing around my Valeria.
“No can do. She wants you.”
“Who?”
“Lady Fera. Her father suggested Tobias at first since he’s the crown prince, but she’s the one who refused.”
Fuck.
“We need Alpha Brimstone on our side, Raphael.”
“Then find another way.” I get up and walk out, leaving him with my ultimatum. Valeria is the only one I will have.

That night, I could hardly sleep, my thoughts consumed by her. I fought the urge to go to her, to slip into her bed and just hold her. If I hadn’t made the worst mistake of my life–rejecting her–she would be beside me now, marked and mine. I never thought anyone could be so stupid, but I proved it. I am.
Fucking dumb idiot!
I refuse to lose her. Even if she turns me away, she’s still mine. I’ll embrace the delusion if that’s what it
takes.
The next morning, Father calls me to his office, and from the moment I step inside, I know I won’t like the
reason I’m here. Fera sits with Alpha Brimstone, having a conversation with my father.
“You called?” I ask coldly.
“Yes, please sit.”
Fera’s eyes light up when they meet mine, but I can’t return her enthusiasm.
Father motions to them. “You remember Fera Beckwith, and you know Alpha Brimstone.”
I give the girl a small bow, trying to be proper as I was taught, and then shake Alpha Brimstone’s hand.
“They came to me to ask about a potential date for the mating ceremony,” Father says.
My teeth clench as I face him. He can see I’m not happy, and I intend to make that clear. “At the risk of embarrassing you, Father, I’ve already spoken to you about this.” My gaze shifts to Fera. “No offence, but I already have a mate and I refuse to take a second.”
“What?” Fera whispers.
“Raphael!” Father jumps to his feet.
I lean back with a smirk, relaxing in the chair, and mutter, “My mate doesn’t know it yet, though.”
