Chapter 41
~Valeria~
I can’t speak.
“Valeria!” he shouts, and even the rain can’t drown out the loudness.
My lips tremble. I don’t know what to tell him.
“Why are you here?! Why do you keep coming to this place?!”
“You-you wouldn’t understand.” That’s all I can manage to say.
He releases my hand, then grips my hips, pulling a step closer. “How can I understand if you won’t tell me? Talk to me.”
He’s going to think I’m crazy. I don’t want him to think that. How am I supposed to explain any of this?
He closes his eyes and shakes his head, pulling back. Frustration flickers across his face.

“I… he told me.”
“He?”
I bite back the rest. Saying the Raven Wolf King told me would sound insane, even to me.
“I… I can do things. I can call the ravens.”
Now he stares at me, as if in pain. His eyes search mine. “Valeria, what is happening to you?”
“I can show you! I…” My voice cracks as I try to summon the ravens, but nothing happens. I have no idea what I’m doing.
“I…” The word dies in my throat, swallowed by the storm. My hands tremble, reaching for a power that refuses to answer.
“Valeria…”
“Please don’t look at me like that! Don’t look at me like I’m crazy!” I shout.
“I don’t think you’re crazy!” he says. “I love you! I love you so fucking much! Do you not understand that?!” He cups my face. “I could never think the worst of you.”
My mouth quivers, words lost before they can form. His hand slides into my hair, and he leans closer, gentle, almost as if 18:43

completely. Valeria… be mine.”
His lips brush against mine, lingering but not pressing.
“Be mine,” he whispers.
“Y-yes! I’m yours.”
Not even a second passes after I whisper those words before his lips crash against mine. Effortlessly, he picks me up and pushes me against the tree, tearing my clothes away. Lightning strikes, thunder roars, wind blows, rain pours down-and my screams of pleasure are drowned by it all.
I cling to him, arms locked around his neck, his body pressed fully against mine, my back pinned to the tree. He thrusts so hard and so fast, almost as if he’s lost all control. It feels like we’re part of the storm. Wet and cold, yet the heat between us is enough to keep us warm. I lift my head, looking up at the sky as my body jolts from the sheer force he uses to drive into me.
He loves me. And… I love him. I do. I love him more than I ever let myself admit. All this time I tried to hide it, to deny it, to push him away-yet I was falling in love with him all along.
There’s no denying it now. We’re meant to be together. Not even the breaking of our bonds could tear us apart.
The tension builds in my body, becoming so overwhelming tl43

overwhelming force neither of us can escape. Together, for that brief moment, we feel like one. Bodies shaking from the sheer pleasure, he kisses me once more before sliding down to my
neck.
A loud moan escapes me, turning into a sharp yelp as Raphael’s fangs sink into my skin.
He’s marking me. I belong to him now—an unbreakable contract, severed only by death. The need to mark him in return rises inside me like breath itself, primal and unstoppable.
I give in. My teeth pierce the skin of his neck. He hisses, lips still locked to mine.
We remain bound like that for what feels like eternity, lost in the euphoria of it.
At last, the rain subsides. He withdraws his fangs, his forehead pressing against mine as his eyes hold me steady. “You are my
mate.”
“And you are mine,” I say.
The next kiss he gives me is pure passion, pure intensity. It feels as if our souls are intertwining, binding together in a way that cannot be undone. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever known.
HeДs mine. Raphael is mine.

Chapter 41-2
In this moment, all thoughts of the Raven Wolf King vanish. I want only Raphael. I want to go to my room and lose myself in him-his presence, his love, his everything. I want every day to be filled with him. No one else. Nothing else.
He is my other half. My everything.
We hold each other beneath the tree, time stretching until it feels endless. Our souls cling so tightly it hurts to let go.
But as the last drizzle fades, the silence breaks with croaks. Ravens gather in the branches, black eyes fixed on us.
“Valeria… we need to go.” Raphael’s voice is heavy, his gaze wary as he looks up.
An odd sound comes from the darkness of the trees, almost like a crack of a branch. Raphael sets me down. The moment he pulls away, a raven dives at him. He slaps it aside, but another swoops down, then another. In seconds, he’s swarmed, wings beating, claws striking.
“Raphael!”
I begin to pull the ravens away from him. “Stop!” I shout.
I can’t see a single part of Raphael’s torso. It’s swallowed in

As if answering my cry, another flock of ravens descends from the sky, diving into the ravens on Raphael. Ravens clash against ravens, a storm of feathers and fury. Raphael plunges into the pond, still buried beneath a few of them.
Over the water, war rages.
I slide into the pond, clinging to Raphael as he finally breaks the surface, free of the birds. He pulls me into a protective embrace, and together we watch the madness above us until the sky clears and silence returns.
Around us, the carcasses of ravens drift, black shadows on the
water.
“They’re gone,” Raphael mutters. “Killed each other.”
He has no idea it was me who called the second flock.
When I look at him, my chest tightens. He’s battered, torn, his body marked as if he’s just walked out of a brutal fight.
“Are you okay?” I ask, caressing his face.
“Yeah. Are you?”
They weren’t after me,” I tell him.

Heeding the urgency, we make it back to the castle in no time, both of us stripped bare. Thankfully, most are already asleep, and the halls lie quiet, save for the occasional guard.
In Raphael’s room, we rush through a quick shower, washing away the storm and the blood. Then I begin to tend to him. His body is marked with deep, small wounds, his face scratched and
bitten.
My hands move carefully over him, cleaning, soothing, trying to erase the pain. He watches me in silence, his eyes heavy, but there’s trust in the way he lets me care for him.
“They were so fucking vicious,” he mutters and hisses in pain, but continues his soft rant, talking to himself. “I always wondered how they could take out Emmet so easily. I underestimated the power of these small creatures. Alone, they’re harmless. But together, they can tear down a full-grown person in minutes. This… this is different. This is targeted. Which means someone is behind it.”
I kneel before him as he sits on the edge of the bed, tending the wound on his leg. His eyes find mine. A hand slides down my cheek, tracing the line of my jaw, then lower down my neck until it rests on the mark he gave me. His touch lingers there, claiming, reminding. “They couldn’t finish me off, so they could target you because you’re my mate. Just like they did with my mother. I can’t let that happen.”

“Stay here, my love. I’ll be back.”
I freeze. My love. The words echo inside me, unreal yet undeniable. I know I love him-he told me he loves me-but
hearing it aloud feels like stepping into a dream. No one has ever said those words to me before. And now someone does. Raphael loves me. Truly.
Alone in the room, I cry. Sadness creeps in, reminding me of the pain I’ve carried, but happiness settles too. I am loved. It is
bittersweet.
I wash my face in the bathroom, scrubbing away the tears. In the mirror, the mate mark stares back. Two puncture wounds at the curve of my neck. I will always bear it. And he will always bear mine. There is no turning back.
