Chapter 345 You’re The Best Gift
unbreakable.
“I love it. Thank you, love,” Barnaby said, his voice full of warmth
“Our first year,” Hannah said softly.
Just last August, up in those mountains by the border, was the day they found each other again. Now, a whole year had flown by in the blink of an eye.
Barnaby carefully lifted the glass cover off the sealed periodic table on the wall. Together, they placed the two elements into their designated spots, then sealed it back up, celebrating the first year of their hundred-year pact together.
“Come with me to one more place?” Barnaby said, taking her hand and leading her out.
“Sorry, I can’t. I really do have an appointment with Percival later I want to try hypnosis and see if it helps me remember anything, Hannah replied.
Barnaby had thought that after a week, she’d finally given up on trying to remember. But seeing her still so determined made his heart ache.
“I really wish you’d just say this was all a lie you made up to mess with me yesterday,” he said, his face clouded with displeasure.
Hannah replied, “The only thing I made up was about Candy’s variety show that night.”
Barnaby’s expression finally softened. “I’ll go with you. After we’re done, let’s go out for dinner tonight.”
“Sounds good,” Hannah said.
At half past ten, Hannah and Barnaby arrived right on time at Percival’s private clinic.
His place was strictly invite-only-super discreet, no outsiders allowed.
Inside, besides Percival, there was a distinguished-looking older man with a prominent nose and a snowy beard, probably in his late fifties or early sixties.
“This is my mentor in psychology, Dr. Freud. He’s a world-famous psychologist, and he’s done extensive research in brain anatomy and pathology,” Percival introduced in Zirenthis.
Then he switched to Thalvarin and said to Dr. Freud, “Professor, this is my boss, and this is Hannah Carter.”
“I know her! She’s the Nameless Healer!” Dr. Freud practically glowed with excitement as he spoke in Thalvarin. “The Nameless Healer! It’s such an honor to finally meet you in person-you’re my idol! Your custom medicine is just incredible. He was so thrilled he tried to rush forward and hug Hannah, but Barnaby stepped in, stopping him before he could get any
closer.
“Hello, Professor Freud,” Hannah said politely, shaking his hand.
Freud gripped her hand, too excited to let go. “Just call me Freud. Can I take a picture with you and get your autograph?” Barnaby frowned, thinking, ‘He’s old enough to be her grandfather, and he’s still acting like a starstruck fan?’
“Can we get started?” Barnaby urged.
Hannah had already talked to Percival on the phone about what she needed, so he had everything ready.
“My mentor will be guiding you through the hypnosis this time, and I’ll be right here to monitor everything,” Percival said. As he spoke, he gently fitted an EEG headset onto Hannah’s head and hooked it up to the computer.
“We’ll start with mild hypnosis and gradually go deeper. As we do, your mind will become clearer and more focused, helping you really see and work through anything you’ve been hiding or holding back inside,” Dr. Freud explained.
Percival shot Barnaby a look, and once Barnaby gave the go-ahead, he turned to Freud and said, “Freud, let’s get started.” Hannah stared at the pocket watch swinging in front of her, listening to Freud’s voice. Bit by bit, she closed her eyes, letting herself drift into the depths of her mind, searching for those memories she’d buried away.
She kept digging deeper into her memories, searching, until she was suddenly back when she was six.
She saw herself hiding inside a cabinet in the main hall of Grace and Footsteps came closer-she thought it was Allen looking for her in their game of hide-and-seek, so she held her breath, heart pounding, not daring to make a sound. “Dad gave you the family headship because he believed you were more capable than your brother. How could you have such a stupid idea? Handing it over to someone else?!” a woman’s voice snapped, sharp and angry.
The voice was so familiar, but Hannah just couldn’t remember who it was. All she could tell was that two people were fighting in the hall. In her subconscious, she tried to push open the cabinet door, but the scene was suddenly yanked away. like she was forcibly pulled out of the memory.
She was suddenly swallowed by darkness, like she was crouched in the corner of a small, shadowy room. The wooden door swung open, letting in a faint glow from outside.

Chapter 345 You’re The Best Gift
There was a little boy standing in the doorway, his face lost in the shadows, the light behind him making it impossible to
see his features. In his hand, a dagger caught the dim light-its plade icy and menacing, with blood dripping steadily from the tip.
