Chapter 120 The Video That Exposed the Truth
Clark’s words left Wendy and Yale frozen in place.
Jolie’s face turned ghastly pale. The mocking look on Leighton’s face stripped away all her pretense, laying her embarrassment bare for everyone to see.
In that moment, Jolie could not deny she regretted her actions. If she had known Zora would call Leighton to the school, she would never have kept the conflict going stubbornly.
She should have settled everything long before he showed up.

Jolie had guessed who Zora might ask for help, running through countless names in her mind –but she never imagined it would be Leighton, the arrogant, unrestrained man who always did as he pleased.
She’d always assumed he was still overseas, never expecting he’d already come back to Seacrest.
No matter how carefully she’d planned, Jolie never saw it coming that Zora would grow close to someone as powerful as Leighton.
“Exactly! Mrs. Knox, your daughter called my daughter a lapdog first-was my kid not supposed to stand up for herself?” Elara snapped, clearly furious.
She might tease or scold her own daughter all she wanted, but she would never let an outsider speak ill of Hallie.
Least of all from a family that could not tell right from wrong, unreasonable and overbearing
all at once.
How could any family be so blind to the truth and act so unreasonably?
“Your daughter owes mine a proper apology! If you refuse, we’ll take this further.”
Elara held her head high, the soft warmth fading from her elegant features, replaced by unyielding authority.
As a mother, she would never let anyone bully her child.
Even without right on her side, she would stand her ground-and with justice fully on her side now, she would not back down an inch.
She’d originally wanted to keep things calm and smooth over the matter, out of respect for Zora’s family. But after seeing how coldly they treated Zora, Elara knew she had to get justice, both for Hallie and for Zora.
No parent should ever treat their own flesh and blood this way.

“Mrs. Knox, take a good look for yourself. See who really started all this trouble.”

Leighton pulled out his phone, opened the video he’d just received, and held it straight in front of Wendy and Yale.
“Get out of my way!”
The video opened with Jolie’s sharp, hostile tone.
Skipping past Hallie’s lines, the footage cut straight to Jolie’s next words.
“Are you Zora’s lapdog? So quick to jump to her defense?”
The video played on, capturing Jolie’s taunting, vicious stare. The evidence landed hard, leaving the Knox family utterly humiliated.
“Now do you understand, Mrs. Knox? If not, I have no problem playing it again for everyone to watch.”
Leighton slipped his phone back into his pocket slowly, his tone calm but cutting.
“Jolie, how could you say something so cruel?”
Wendy shrank back under Elara’s gaze, stunned to realize Jolie really had been the one to start the fight.
“Does your face sting, Mrs. Knox?”
Leighton’s lips tugged into a faint smirk, his brows lifting in quiet ridicule as he watched her with lazy, unsparing eyes.
Wendy was left lost for words. The memory of how harshly she’d just accused Zora burned in her mind-she’d wronged her daughter yet again, and now the truth had slapped her right in the face.
Her cheeks burned with shame, and she wished she could vanish into the floor.
She could only endure Leighton’s mocking remarks in silence, seething inwardly at how disrespectful the younger man was, showing no regard for his elders at all.
“The only reason we asked you here today is that Jolie refuses to apologize for her behavior.”
Clark let out a long sigh after explaining the whole story in full.
He never expected Wendy to be so unreasonable and biased.
Usually, when she came to the school, she seemed so elegant and dignified. Why was she being so blind today?

“Apologize.”
Yale was also caught off guard. He stared at the pale, tense Jolie, his expression turning stern and his voice cold and firm.
Jolie was in the wrong, and she had to apologize.
Their family didn’t raise people who refused to correct their mistakes or lacked the courage to admit them.
Zora had also acted out of line in the fight, but there was no excusing Jolie’s cruel insults.
Beneath everyone’s fixed stares, Jolie bit her lip until it nearly bled. A lump caught in her throat, and she could not bring herself to speak.
She would never apologize to Zora-not to someone she thought was beneath her.
With Jolie stubbornly refusing to say sorry, Elara and the others did not rush her. The longer she dragged this out, the more embarrassed the Knox family would become.
“Want some candy? I’ve got some here.”
Leighton turned to Zora at his side. Hallie was leaning close, murmuring soft words to comfort her.
The moment Leighton spoke up, Hallie fell silent at once, too nervous to say another word.
Leighton shot her a glance, his gaze laced with obvious disdain.
Hallie fell quiet, at a loss for words.
“No, thank you.”
Zora shook her head lightly. She had no appetite for anything sweet right then.
But the next second, a sweet hard candy was slipped gently into her mouth.
A rich, warm flavor spread across her tongue instantly.
“Just try one.”
Leighton folded the candy wrapper into his bag and gave her a soft smile.
Zora tilted her head up and met his warm amber eyes.
The sweetness of the candy seeped straight into her heart, wrapping around the dull ache lingering in her chest and soothing every raw, bitter edge.

Yale watched Zora as she stood close to Leighton. Even though he was her brother, she turned to an outsider for support. There wasn’t a trace of reliance on Yale in her eyes.
