Chapter 168 Moving Out
She was always sharp-tongued and never willing to back down an inch.
None of this was her fault; it was all Zora’s doing. If Zora had just kept her mouth shut and stopped talking back, things would never have gotten this ugly.
Everything was Zora’s own fault.
Zora could not care less what the Knox family thought of her. She had just stepped into the residential community and finished packing up her belongings when Jensen’s call came through.
“Zora… where are you right now?”
Worry was thick in Jensen’s voice. He was already at the airport overseas.
He was abroad for a business deal when his assistant showed him the bank notification. After looking up the sender and digging into what had happened back in Seacrest, he was instantly filled with rage.
Bastards!
It was utterly unreasonable of his aunt’s whole family, and the three Knox brothers were nothing but useless cowards.
Without a second thought, Jensen told his assistant to book the earliest flight home.
He had already been furious over the school incident, yet he never expected them to go out of their way to pick fights with Zora again.
He was thoroughly disappointed with the entire Knox family.
“Jensen, I’m planning to move out soon.”
Hearing his voice, Zora slowly folded her clothes neatly into the suitcase, a faint sour ache rising in her heart as she spoke softly.
She had cut all ties with the Knox family, but Wendy was still part of the Marlow relatives. She knew for sure Wendy would throw another fit once she found out she was still staying in the apartment Jensen had arranged for her.
Zora did not want Jensen and the rest of the Marlow family to fall out with Wendy just because
of her.
It would only put Opal and Floyd in an awkward spot. Besides, she had already intended to rent

“Zora, don’t listen to anything my aunt says. This apartment belongs to me; it has absolutely nothing to do with them. Wait for me, I’ll be home really soon. I’ve already called Leighton, I’ll get back to you in no time.”
Jensen grew anxious the moment he heard her words.
“Thank you so much for taking care of me all this time,” Zora murmured quietly.
“Zora, are you pushing me away?”
Jensen blurted out in a flustered, urgent tone, his heart feeling as if it were being torn apart.
He had finally managed to close the distance between them and break down her cold walls, and he never wanted her to grow distant from him again.
“I’m just moving to another place to live, I’m not leaving you behind.” Zora fell silent for a moment before replying gently.
Truth be told, Jensen had treated her incredibly well, so well that she could never bring herself to say harsh words and hurt him.
“Then promise me you’ll stay right there and wait for me, okay? I’ll be back before you know it.”
Her words eased his panic a little, and he softened his tone to speak to her warmly.
“Jensen…” Zora pressed her lips together, staring at her fully packed luggage without saying another word.

After hanging up the call, Zora dragged her suitcase along. She only took the few personal items she had brought with her in the first place.
She transferred all the money she had gotten back from the Knox family into a seldom-used bank card and left it by the entrance hallway, knowing Jensen would find it once he got home.
It was meant to cover all the living expenses she had spent under the Marlow family’s care over these days.
Shortly after, Leighton tried to reach her by phone, but she chose not to answer.
When Zora walked out of the building and prepared to scan her face to leave the community gate, she was stopped right away.
“Miss Knox, Mr. Marlow and Mr. Pierce have given strict instructions that you cannot leave for the time being. Mr. Pierce asked you to wait here for him. He’s on his way over right now.”
The security guard blocked her path firmly.

Unable to get through to Zora via call, Leighton had directly contacted the community security staff in advance.
Zora frowned slightly upon being stopped.
She was in no mood to meet Leighton right now, knowing he would definitely side with Jensen and stop her from leaving.
She also knew clearly that she would never be able to get past them if they insisted on keeping
her here.
She did not want to make things difficult for the ordinary working staff either.
In the end, she decided to stay and sort everything out with them before leaving.
Her mind was in a total mess, and she had never been good at handling complicated personal relationships.
She didn’t really know how to handle her relationship with Jensen.
She walked over and sat down beside the flower bed nearby.
The security guard finally let out a sigh of relief, seeing she had no intention of forcing her way
out.
Before Zora had sat there for long, she received another phone call from Opal and Floyd, who told her they were already hurrying over.
Through the line, she could faintly hear them stepping out of the house, along with furious shouts they mumbled away from the phone, scolding Wendy and the three Knox brothers harshly.
“Zora!”
Just as she listened to the noisy voices on the phone, Zora looked up and saw Leighton striding straight towards her.
He relaxed visibly the second he saw she was safe and unhurt with no signs of injury.
“Leighton…” Zora stood up slowly and spoke in a low voice, noticing the obvious anger written all over his face.
“You’re ready to cut ties with the Knox family, and now you’re pushing me away too?” Leighton glanced at the suitcase sitting beside her.

“We never really had any close ties to begin with…” Zora dared not meet his eyes. She could no longer spot the usual gentle warmth in those eyes that always held a soft smile for her.
She had never expected Jensen to reach out to ask Leighton for help.
“Zora, all my kindness toward you has been wasted. You really have no heart at all. Come on, let’s head back.”
