Zora really was amazing.

Only Maya’s gentle eyes turned icy cold the moment she heard Evan planned to lay a hand on

Zora.

Evan… She silently memorized the name.

The group chatted and laughed all the way to the amusement park.

They had already bought VIP tickets online in advance, so they could walk straight in without waiting in long lines.

The amusement park was huge, with dozens of thrilling rides enough to keep them entertained all day long, plus various live stage shows to enjoy.

“I looked it up last night,” Easton said while scrolling through his phone. “There are firework displays, flame juggling performances, and various wonderful light shows tonight.”

“Sounds perfect! We can catch those shows after we finish all the rides.”

“Hurry up! We’ve wasted half the morning already, or we won’t have enough fun time later.”

Hallie grabbed Zora with her left hand and Maya with her right, rushing straight into the park together.

“I’m heading for the giant pendulum ride!”

Easton hurried forward to catch up with them.

“I wanna try the sky swing!”

“Hallie, you sure you dare to get on that ride? Don’t come crying to us if you get scared!”

Hallie let out a confident laugh. “There’s nothing I don’t dare try. You guys better not chicken out first.”

They joked and chased each other playfully around the park.

“Which ride do you feel like trying first, Zora?”

They decided to start with something milder and lined up for the pirate ship ride.

Since it was a holiday, every attraction was packed with crowds. Fortunately, their VIP passes let them skip all queues easily. They showed their tickets to the staff and settled into their seats

“I’m taking the very last row! That’s where all the thrill is! You joining me, Felix?” Easton darted straight to the back seats.

“Nope, not taking that risk. Safety always comes first.” Felix shook his head and calmly sat down right in the middle section.

“Are we even best friends anymore?” Easton stared across the ride at him in disbelief. “Only people scared of heights sit in the middle! Don’t tell me you’re actually afraid of heights? I never knew you had such a weak spot!”

No matter how Easton teased him, Felix stayed rooted in his seat and quietly fastened his safety belt without moving an inch.

Easton could only let out a helpless groan.

“Where do you wanna sit, Zora? Are you scared of heights?” Hallie asked softly.

Zora glanced toward the rear seats. Even when stationary, those seats hung high, roughly ten feet above the ground. “I’ll pick somewhere in the middle.”

It was her first time riding this attraction. Watching the ship swing high up in the air made her feel a little nervous, yet sitting too far in the middle felt far too boring.

“What about you, Maya?”

“I’ll stay in the middle area too,” Maya replied gently.

Hallie and Easton chose the second last row, while Zora and Maya settled halfway between the center and the back. Felix leaned back casually with both arms resting on the handrails, staying utterly calm and fully focused on staying safe.

Hallie and Easton chatted excitedly behind them, already brimming with anticipation.

“Please fasten your safety belts and hold tight to the handrails,” a staff member reminded everyone through a loudspeaker.

“Safety belt… where is it…” Zora looked down in a fluster, trying to find hers.

“Right here,” Maya smiled softly, leaned over, and helped her fasten the belt properly.

“Thanks so much, Maya,” Zora responded in a sweet voice.

Maya’s eyes curved. She buckled herself too. “You can hold my hand if you get scared.”

Their seats were neither too high nor too low.

“Sure! You can hold mine too if you need to.” Zora nodded obediently and gripped the handrails tightly.

Right after everyone finished securing their belts, the pirate ship slowly began to move. As it started swinging upward, Zora’s eyes widened wide. A sudden strong sense of weightlessness hit her hard, making her heart race wildly. Loud, excited screams echoed all around, and she couldn’t help screaming out loud as well.

She clung firmly to the handrails with both hands, barely catching her breath before another intense wave of weightlessness swept over her.

“Aahh! Maya help me!”

Amid her frightened shouts, she heard a soft clicking sound. She turned her head and saw Maya calmly taking photos of her panicked look with a camera.

Zora wanted to cover her face in embarrassment, yet could not let go of the railings at all.

The next second, her trembling hand resting on the rail was gently held tight.

“Don’t be afraid,” Maya said in her calm, soothing tone.

“Ahhh-” As the ship swung upward once more, Zora couldn’t stop herself from screaming again.

“Whoa! It’s way too high! I wanna get off right now!” Easton yelled loudly from the back row, completely losing his cool.

The ride lasted for exactly five minutes in total. Once it finally stopped, only Maya and Felix remained completely composed. Easton, Hallie, and Zora all looked rather pale and shaken.

“Want some water?” Maya twisted open a bottle of drinking water and handed it to Zora.
