The Real Heiress's New Family Adored By All novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269 Sever All Ties

Floyd squeezed Opal’s hand tightly, worry etched on his face.

Opal shook her head at him gently.

Wendy was not the Marlows’ biological daughter. She was the child of Opal’s childhood best friend.

Wendy’s parents had died in a car accident on their way home from the hospital, shortly after she was born.

Opal had pitied the newborn baby, taken her in, and raised her as her own child.

She’d given her the status of a Marlow heiress. Later, when Wendy married Wayne and he wanted to start his business, the Marlows had gone all out to support him.

No one expected her to hold such deep resentment toward the Marlows just because Jensen pulled the family’s investment from the Knox Group.

She never stopped to think how the Marlows had backed the Knox family for decades.

Opal was utterly disappointed in her. Since Wendy harbored so much hatred for them, the Marlows had done more than enough for her.

It was time she learned the truth. The Marlow family was disowning her.

Everyone in the crowd was stunned. Even Zora had no idea about this secret.

Only Jensen kept a calm face. He had known the truth.

Shortly after Wendy came to pick a fight with him a while back, his grandparents had told him everything.

They’d warned him that if they were ever gone and Wendy did something reckless in the future, he did not need to hold back out of fake family ties, and could cut her off completely.

The entire Knox family was frozen in shock, caught off guard by this huge revelation.

Opal’s serious expression made it clear she was not lying.

Wayne shot Wendy a sharp, furious glare. She was an absolute fool. She’d just ruined their last tie to the Marlow family.

The Knox family had not yet hit rock bottom. The Marlows’ withdrawal of investment was only a private matter between the two families.

Many other businesses were still sitting on the fence, afraid to make sudden moves.

Since the Knoxes had never openly broken with the Marlows, everyone still saw them as affiliated.

They’d lost plenty of cooperation deals, but they still had options.

Wendy’s outburst today had officially burned all bridges with the Marlows.

Everyone in high society watched the trend and followed the strongest side. After today’s incident, the Knox family was truly in deadly danger.

“That’s impossible! I’m a Marlow! I’m your daughter! My last name is Marlow! You’re my parents!

“You’re lying! Are you just mad at me? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean those words. Please don’t abandon me!”

Wendy had never known the truth. Panic crashed over her.

She broke free from Holden’s grip and stumbled forward, reaching out to grab Opal’s hand.

She’d always thought the Marlows were her real parents. That was why she dared to lash out and vent all her anger on them.

She’d believed her parents should tolerate every one of her moods and spoil her endlessly.

Now she was told she was not a Marlow at all?

Wendy had been in high society for years. She knew exactly how many benefits and privileges the Marlow name had brought her.

Hearing Opal’s words, seeing her resolve to cut her off, pure terror flooded her heart.

She did care for the Marlows, but she could never accept this truth.

If word got out that she was not a real Marlow, she would lose all face in the circle.

Opal’s heart ached watching Wendy break down in tears. She had truly loved and raised her like her own child.

Still, she stayed silent in the face of Wendy’s desperate begging.

“Mom! I’m your daughter! Are you really going to throw me away for Zora who destroyed my family?”

Wendy tried to grab her hand again, but Reed stepped forward and blocked her path.

“Zora! Are you happy now? You’ve ruined everything I have!”

Unable to sway Opal, Wendy turned her burning hatred toward Zora, who was protected by Leighton and the others.

Leighton covered Zora’s ears with his hand, shielding her from Wendy’s vicious gaze.

“Wendy! You still refuse to blame yourself and keep targeting Zora! You still don’t see your own mistakes!”

Floyd’s sharp, hawk-like eyes locked firmly on Wendy.

Wendy flinched and choked in fear.

Floyd rarely lost his temper or treated his family coldly, but when he did, Wendy could never stand against his anger.

“Grandpa… Mom didn’t mean it…” Yale forced himself to speak up in defense.

If their mother was not a Marlow, their family had no connection to the Marlows at all.

After everything that had happened, Yale knew exactly how hard it was to survive without the Marlow family’s backing.

He dared not imagine what would happen to the Knox Group if the Marlows completely cut them off.

“Yes, please. Wendy’s just been confused lately. Don’t hold her words against her.” Wayne bit back his urge to curse and shot Wendy a vicious glare.

This woman is utterly useless. She messes up every good thing we have.

Į

“We’re family after all. It’s all Wendy’s fault. I apologize to you two on her behalf.”

“She may have spoken without thinking, but every word came straight from her heart,” Jensen said flatly.

“Our family has done everything we could for you over the years.

“Since you’re so unsatisfied with us and think we’ve never treated you well enough, you’re simply greedy.

“Since everyone is here to witness it, you have no more ties with the Marlow family starting today.”
