Asher lifted his eyes. His stare was icy and distant.

“I don’t have endless patience. You’re no longer in charge of anything related to Zora. I’ll assign someone new. You’re being transferred to a branch office.”

Celyn’s body went rigid. A sharp chill ran down her back. The moment she heard his final call, her eyes instantly welled up.

“Mr. Hale… please don’t send me away. I only want to stay by your side…”

“Get out.” Asher’s mind was made up.

If she started scheming, greed took over. Leaving her near Zora could put Zora in danger.

“You push through your illness, rushing to finish all your work just so you can go back to her sooner. But what does she do? She’s out there having fun with someone else, never thinking about how much you’re suffering. You’ve raised her for 16 years. Don’t you ever want to live for yourself?”

Celyn stared up at his stunning, sharp face. Even weak and sick, he still looked incredibly handsome, cold and noble. Her eyes were full of hurt and disbelief.

She couldn’t believe after four years of loyal service, he felt nothing for her.
