Chapter 41 A Cozy Dinner Gathering

Thankfully, Zora was far from slow. After messing around on her phone for a few days, she finally got the hang of all the basic functions.
“Nice, Zora.”
Once he’d added her contact, Jett set a note right away. “Zoka, you can hit me up anytime you need something from now on.”
Jett and Jensen had been close friends for over ten years. He could easily hear how much Jensen cared about Zora in every word he said.
‘Okay.” Zora nodded.
‘Now that you’ve added her, let’s go eat. I’ve been walking Zora around all afternoon; I can’t let her starve.”
Jensen said, then took Zora’s hand and led her forward.
ett tagged along right behind them, looking eager.
The three headed to a booth with an adorable, cozy decor. Limited-edition plush dolls hung all around he place-items people would line up and fight to buy, just used as simple decorations here.
You like it, Zora?” Jett noticed Zora staring curiously at the hanging doll. He took it down at once and handed it to her. “Go ahead and play with it. This one’s a little worn out though, so I won’t give you this one. I’ll get you a brand-new one tomorrow.”
He thought the used doll wasn’t nice enough as a gift, and planned to order a completely new one for Zora.
Thank you.” Zora held the doll, still a little stunned. She’d only glanced at it twice, and now it was already n her hands.
We’re ready to order,” Jensen called over to a waiter. “No cilantro, no garlic in any dish. Make it a serving for four.”
He watched their little interaction, then spoke to the server.
This restaurant had a fixed set menu for every table, like opening a surprise blind box meal.
Jensen didn’t know exactly what dishes would be served, but he knew Zora hated garlic and cilantro.
“Right away, sir.”
The waiter nodded and stepped away.
While they waited, Jett started bombarding Zora with questions nonstop.
“How old are you, Zora? You look so young. What grade are you in? Which school do you go to?”
“Seventeen, senior year, Havenridge High.”

Zora didin’t find him annoying at all. She thought he was a little chatty, but since he was Jensen’s best friend, she answered politely.
Her words were few, but straight and to the point.
Havenridge High School was the elite private school in Seacrest. The Knox family had paid a huge sum to get Zora enrolled.
With her grades from her small-town high school, she’d never have met Havenridge’s admission cutoff on her own. Still, she was the Knox family’s biological daughter-they’d never make no plans for her future.
They spared no expense getting her into Seacrest’s top high school for her senior year.
No one in the family really cared about her grades. They just wanted her to spend her remaining underage years comfortably at school, then send her overseas for college later on. Senior year was just a transition period.
The Knoxes never expected Zora to excel academically.
As long as she didn’t bring shame to the family in public, got a proper diploma, she’d have no trouble inding a good family to marry into later.
Wow, you’re already seventeen? I thought you were maybe fifteen or sixteen.”
ett looked shocked. He’d guessed she was only fifteen or sixteen at most.
She’d be of legal age next year already.
Zora was petite, barely five feet three. Next to Jensen and Jett, who were over six feet tall, she looked just ike a little kid.
Her face was small too, and she spoke slowly, making her seem even younger than she really was-even
hough she was already seventeen.
The Knoxes had pulled strings to get her into Havenridge High as a senior.
‘I’ll drive you to school tomorrow,” Jensen said gently. “Have a little something to hold you over first.”
He pushed a plate of butter cookies and small fancy cupcakes over to her, fresh from the kitchen.
‘Okay.”
Zora picked up a teddy bear-shaped cookie and nibbled on it slowly.
Meanwhile, Jensen and Jett started chatting privately.
“You still won’t go back to the Nolan family home, just lazing around running this fancy restaurant for fun? Didn’t your dad blow a fuse over this?”
Jensen tossed a piece of fruit at Jett, who couldn’t stop staring at Zora.
The Nolan family had run a prestigious medical dynasty for generations, owning countless hospitals

But Jett had always been rebel. He refused to join the family medical business and instead opened a private restaurant just for fun, driving his father absolutely furious.
“Let him be mad.” Jett caught the fruit easily, twirling an orange in his hand, speaking casually. “My dad’s got his illegitimate son waiting to take over the family business anyway. Why would I go back? Just to make him angrier, or fight with that secret heir of his?”
“Do you really think he won’t hand all the family wealth over to that illegitimate kid?” Jensen sighed. “You should fight for what’s yours, Jett. Don’t let them walk all over what belongs to you.”
‘Relax, stop worrying about me.” Jett’s eyes turned irritable at the mention of his family, then he quickly smiled again. “If he wants to give everything away, let him. I don’t care about the money anyway. By the way, Leighton just got back from overseas. When can the three of us hang out again?”
Watching from the side, Zora thought he was such a contradictory person.
‘Make sure to bring Zora along too. Leighton probably hasn’t met her yet.”
