Chapter 62 Poolside Frame-Up and Cold Indifference
Before Zora could react, Jolie suddenly let go of her grip and lurched backward. Flailing her arms, she grabbed hold of Zora, dragging her down into the swimming pool together.

Pulled under the water, Zora was forced deeper by someone clinging tightly to her. Cold water flooded her lungs, leaving her submerged for a long stretch with no sign of surfacing.
Jolie thrashed and splashed frantically on the water’s surface.
Watching Zora stay underwater without emerging, the audience’s hearts clenched tight with anxiety.
Everyone wished they could rush to the scene and pull her out right away.
It was plain as day to everyone watching-Jolie had deliberately dragged Zora down with her.
“Help! Somebody help! Zora… It’s all my fault… I never should’ve come looking for you…”
Jolie flailed in the pool, her flawless waterproof makeup making her look fragile and pitiful.
No one paid her any mind, their eyes fixed rigidly on the churning water.
Jolie’s constant splashing grew grating as the water bubbled and rippled around her.
Soon, the household staff headed over to fetch Jolie for the cake cutting. Spotting someone struggling in the pool, they panicked and hurried back into the banquet hall to call for help.
In an instant, a figure burst out of the hall-it was Holden.
“Jolie!”
At the sight of her in the water, he dove straight in, pulled Jolie out, and rushed away with her in his arms.
He never even noticed there was still another person left trapped in the pool.
Everyone watching the video stared in shock as Holden left without a second glance.
They longed to shout through the screen, to tell him Zora was still underwater.
All eyes stayed locked on the still, silent pool surface.
“Zora!” someone called out.
At once, several servants jumped into the water to search for her.
The crowd let out a collective breath of relief at the sound.

Zora was eventually lifted out, soaked from head to toe. Her eyes were closed, her face deathly pale. A maid rushed over to perform first aid on her.
Zora coughed up a mouthful of water, breaking into harsh, wrenching fits that shook her whole body.
Watching the scene, viewers felt a sharp ache in their own throats, tight and raw with sympathy.
When she finally came to, her unfocused gaze drifted toward the direction Holden and the others had left.
Her expression was eerily calm-no anger, no hurt, not a trace of resentment at all.
They’d left without a single backward glance, abandoning her without hesitation.
A heavy, suffocating sadness settled over everyone watching. Many clutched at their chests, their hearts throbbing with a bitter, aching numbness.
“Zora, should we take you to the hospital too?” a servant asked softly.
“No need. Just take me back to my room.”
Her voice came out hoarse and low, barely audible even with the volume turned all the way up.
The sound of her quiet, broken tone broke everyone’s heart.
Plenty of girls watching were moved to tears.
She’d nearly drowned, and no one even insisted she get checked by a doctor.
Many wished they could step into the video and drag Zora to the hospital themselves.
The video had one last scene left.
Wrapped in a thick blanket, Zora walked away from the pool with slow, heavy steps.
She did not argue, did not cry out, and said not a single word of complaint.
A heavy, helpless lump settled in every viewer’s chest.
The video ended, and the audio clip began playing next.
“Things have turned chaotic at home ever since Zora came back. I think we should send her away for a while, let her clear her head.”

It was Anton’s voice speaking first.
“I’ll leave on my own.”
The quiet line cut through the audio, leaving listeners feeling hollow inside, as if a piece of their heart had been torn away.
“Zora, apologize to Jolie right now! If it weren’t for you, she would never have fallen into that pool!”
The tone was sharp, unmasked anger and blame.
Anton sounded furious.
Those listening were stunned.
How could anyone demand Zora apologize for something she didn’t do?
Someone wanted to roar at the recording.

“Zora, you were raised out in the countryside and it’s clearly spoiled your temper. You refuse to own up to your mistakes? You pushed Jolie into the water, and she’s willing to let it slide-can’t you even say you’re sorry?”
That was Anton again.
“I’ve said it before. I won’t admit to something I never did. If you can’t see the truth for yourselves, go check the surveillance footage.”
Zora replied in a steady, calm tone.

Everyone wanted to scream, “Yes! Check the cameras! Reveal Jolie’s true face!”
“Zora, Mom, Dad… It’s all just a misunderstanding. She didn’t push me. Please don’t blame her.”
It was Jolie’s rushed, feigned voice of pleading.
Everyone wanted to shout her down, to tell her to stay quiet and let the surveillance speak for itself instead of framing Zora.
“If it’s just a misunderstanding, let’s drop the matter.”
That was Yale’s voice.
The audio cut off right there.
Everyone felt a sickening disgust welling up inside them, bitter and revolting.

In an instant, the endless arguments blowing up on the campus forum fell completely silent.
Jolie’s gentle, perfect image crumbled to pieces overnight.

[Zora never made a fuss about having her whole life stolen, yet Jolie pushed her so far that even her own parents wanted to send her away.]
Someone posted the comment, and it spread like wildfire.
Watching the leaked video and audio, Jolie’s face twisted with rage. Her fingernails dug hard into her palms, her complexion draining ashen pale.
