Chapter 11
ATILA
“Are you planning to stay behind me forever, Kael, or are you actually going to run?”
I sent the taunt through the pack bond and shot between the trees.
Cold wind. Pine and damp earth. Three Alphas on my heels.
Kael’s answer came back immediately-irritated as always.
“I’m being polite. Letting the elderly and the aristocrat go first. Ever heard of manners, Átila?”
Silas growled, laughing as he pushed harder.

“Old? Look in a mirror, kid. If I take you seriously, you’ll be dragting your tongue through the mud in ten minutes.”
Cassian ran beside me, silent like he always was.
Kael, unfortunately, did not come with an off switch.
“Actually, what we all want to know is why our glorious Alpha took so long to show up tonight. I was personally offended. I thought you replaced us.
Silas cut in, voice full of trouble.
“I heard a rumor he stopped by the Melrose house before he came out here. Something over there must’ve caught his
attention.”
Kael whistled through the bond, pure scandal.
“The Melroses, huh? Don’t tell me you still haven’t picked one of the daughters. Because if you stall too long, Cassian might steal your future Luna without even realizing it.”
Cassian snapped back, flat and sharp.
“Me: Where the hell did you get that?”
Kael laughed.
“Oh, please. You’ve been circling that house for years. A massive black wolf stalking a ‘respectable’ family’s property… one of those women got in your head, Cassian.”
Cassian didn’t even change his pace.
“You’re delusional. None of the Melrose daughters interest me.”
Kael made a show of believing him
“Sure. I totally believe you, Samt Cassian-pure as snow, immune to flouncy skirts and sweet Melrose smiles.
Silas finally lost patience.
“You two are worse than pups. What matters is our Alpha’s been pending way too much time around that house Maybe it’s time to handle it?”

Chapter 11
I drove my claws into the rock Cassian did the same
Kael blew past us and tossed back, innocent as a saint
Oops Almost went sightseeing down there
Cassian recovered first and launched forward
He crossed the line in first
I came in right after him, still burning with fury
Silas stumbled in laughing
Kael arrived last, entirely too pleased with himself.
Silas bent over, hands on his knees, breathless.
“Finally Someone actually beat Atila.”
I stared straight at Kael.
You cheated You shoved me on purpose.”
Kael clutched his chest like I’d insulted his ancestors.
Me Never I’m the very picture of sportsmanship. If anyone slipped, blame fate.”
Cassian turned back, voice calm, eyes unreadable.
Cheated or not you lost. Accept it for once. Your crown won’t fall off.”
I shot him an annoyed look.
Are you trying to piss me off too today, Silas?”
Casstan didn’t blink.
Talmost went off that cliff with you. I think that earns me the right to comment.”
Kael barked out a laugh and declared, like a judge delivering a sentence.

“Enough drama Summary of the night: Cassian won, you lost, Silas had fun, and I almost caused a legendary tragedy Which means we should celebrate Butterbrew at the village tavern?”
