**Between Then and Now by Mark Twain**
**Chapter 5**
**Luna Camilla’s POV**
It’s almost surreal to think that the triplets are on the brink of turning eighteen tomorrow. Time has flown by, and it feels like just yesterday when my mate, Dorian, accompanied by his father—who was the reigning Alpha back then—came to our old pack, the Silvermoon Pack, to seal an alliance between our two families.
At that time, I was merely the Beta’s daughter, a naive 19-year-old, and Dorian Bellamy was a strikingly handsome 21-year-old, destined to be the Alpha. The moment our eyes locked, a spark ignited between us, an undeniable connection that whispered of fate. We were mates, and I was overwhelmed by the realization that this tall, stunning man with his rich, caramel skin was meant to be mine.
That fateful night, while the rest of the pack lay peacefully asleep, Dorian slipped into my room like a shadow, his presence electric. We lost ourselves in each other until the sun began to rise, the world outside awakening to a new day. But the morning light brought with it a darkness I never anticipated.
He stood before me, his expression grave, and uttered words that shattered my heart into a million pieces. “I, Dorian Bellamy, future Alpha of the Bluemoon Pack, reject you, Camilla Monroe, to be my mate and future Luna.”
I held my head high, a mask of dignity shielding the turmoil within. I refused to let him witness the depths of his betrayal, the way his words had cut me. What neither of us understood in that moment was the gravity of his decision; he wasn’t just turning his back on me—he was abandoning three tiny lives that were beginning to flourish within me.
At my words, something in him seemed to snap. A single tear escaped his eye, glistening in the light, before he launched himself out the window, transforming mid-air into his magnificent jet-black wolf, disappearing into the depths of the forest.
As I prepare for the arrival of my former pack for the celebration, memories flood my mind, each one a vivid reminder of our tumultuous past. It was no easy feat for Dorian to win back my trust after the devastation he caused.
Yet, over time, I found it within myself to forgive him. We married before the triplets were born—a choice not mandated by our world of wolves, but one Dorian insisted upon. He wanted the world to recognize me as his chosen mate, both in our realm and in the human one.
And so, eighteen years ago, I officially stepped into the role of Luna of the Bluemoon Pack. Through all the trials and tribulations we faced, my heart still holds a deep love for that remarkable Alpha of mine.
