The Rejected Luna (Avery and Kaden) novel Chapter 48

**Chapter 1**

The moment the detectives seized me, it felt as if the very air had been sucked from my lungs. Panic surged within me, a tempest of emotions swirling like a storm. Sierra, sensing my turmoil, rushed to my side, her arms enveloping my trembling frame.

“Lena, listen to me,” she urged, her voice steady yet laced with urgency. “You have to be strong. You will get the justice you deserve for everything they’ve put you through. I promise you, they will pay for their cruelty!”

Her words were a lifeline in the chaos, yet they barely pierced the fog of despair that clouded my mind. I could see the instructors huddled in the corner, their faces twisted in smug satisfaction as they exchanged glances, their disdain palpable.

“Maybe if you’d raised them better, this wouldn’t have happened,” one of them sneered, his voice dripping with contempt.

“That’s just how The Obedience Den operates,” another chimed in, his tone mocking. “You have to break them before you can mold them. Who could have guessed your pups were so weak? Pathetic.”

Her words, though meant to comfort, felt distant, echoing in the hollow chamber of my heart. I turned my gaze to the ceiling, my thoughts spiraling in a dark whirlpool of despair.

“Please… just let me go,” I whispered, the weight of my sorrow pressing down on me like a heavy shroud. “There’s nothing left for me here.”

The silence that followed was deafening, a stark reminder of the void that had consumed my life.
